Football community gathers to remember ‘best human' Selwood
The devastated family of Adam Selwood have gathered to mourn the death of one of their four famous football brothers for the second time this year. And Selwood's West Coast premiership teammates have come together for another unwanted reunion. Selwood, an Eagles champion, husband and father-of-two, was farewelled in a private ceremony at the club's Lathlain base on Wednesday afternoon. Some of the biggest names in Australian football gathered for the memorial service — held in the function rooms at Mineral Resources Park — and to support the family, who lost Adam's identical twin brother Troy just three months ago. Selwood, who died suddenly on May 17 aged 41, was an understated but never undervalued member of West Coast's legendary 2006 premiership team. Ben Cousins. Other long-time teammates, including Josh Kennedy, Matt Priddis, Andrew Gaff and Mark LeCras were also there. Nic Naitanui attended with his wife Brittany Bown. Josh Kennedy. One mourner arrived wearing a West Coast scarf. LeCras posted a touching tribute to Instagram on Wednesday morning, featuring a selfie image with Selwood and fellow former teammates Naitanui, Xavier Ellis and Eric Mackenzie. 'If you ever went into battle Sellers would be the first person you would choose to be by your side,' he wrote. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . Naitanui shared the post to his own account and wrote 'the best human' along with a broken heart emoji. Mourners at Mineral Resources Park. Wednesday's service was a more low-key commemoration than Troy Selwood's funeral, which was held at Geelong's GMHBA Stadium in March. Many of Selwood's 2006 premiership teammates had already gathered in Bunbury in February to farewell Adam Hunter, who kicked the winning goal in that victory over Sydney.
