Football club set to celebrate 120th anniversary with 'Party on the Pitch'
A COMMUNITY football club will celebrate their 120th anniversary with a huge 'Party on the Pitch'.
Downton Football Club were formed in 1905, and this year, on Saturday, May 31, the club will celebrate 120 years.
They will be hosting a 'Party on the Pitch' at the club on Wick Lane, and the event will run from 2 pm to 10.30 pm.
There will be live music from five acts, stone-baked pizzas, a BBQ, a gin and prosecco bar, and Downton Brewery will bring their Landrover Bar.
Families and Children of all ages are welcome, and tickets are £10 per adult with under 16s getting in free. You can just show up on the day, or you can get your tickets HERE.
Head of social media and communications at Downton FC, Paula Henley said: "This is going to be a fantastic party to celebrate an amazing 120 years. We are trying to make sure that everyone is entertained.
Downton FC's Party on the Pitch (Image: Paula Henly) "It has been up and down over the years, especially recently. It was a bit hairy towards the end of this season as we only just stayed up. But we have some amazing youth teams."

The club has been in the village for over four generations and has always been an important part of the community.
Paula continued: "We are right in the centre of the village and we want the community to be part of us as much as we want to be part of the community.
"This club means a lot to the communityandwe want to continue to provide for them. On top of our current youth teams, we are starting a new under-18 team next season.
"We are looking ahead in the future with fresh eyes and new ideas, and we can't wait for what's next."
Downton FC men's team play in the Velocity Wessex Football League and just managed to stay up this season after finishing 18th.
