ECU Health to host Pause to Give Life event honoring organ donors
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — ECU Health will be hosting a Pause to Give Life Event to recognize Donate Life Month. In North Carolina, only 50 percent of adults are registered as organ donors. There are 3,000 people in North Carolina waiting for organ and tissue donations, and more than 100,000 waiting for a donation across the country. During the Pause to Give Life event, ECU Health Medical Center will raise the Donate Life Flag at 10:08 a.m. followed by a 30 second moment of silence to honor donors and their families, those waiting, and recipients who have received the gift of life. This specific start time of 10:08 a.m. is to recognize that one donor can save eight lives. At ECU Health, patients with end-stage kidney failure or diabetes can benefit from a kidney, pancreas or simultaneous kidney/pancreas transplant without leaving eastern North Carolina. An average of 80 to 100 living and deceased donor transplants are performed at ECU Health Medical Center every year, with some of the shortest wait times for recipients across the state. The event will take place at the ECU Health Medical Center Flagpole. Please arrive no later than 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
