Edinboro Lantern Festival raises money for local non-profit

A new festival was held Saturday night on the Edinboro Lake, where participants released water lanterns at dusk. All the proceeds from the Edinboro Lantern Festival went to Boro Women and Family Services (BWS). BWS is a local non-profit and a social service hub that empowers and educates the community. The festival raised over $5,000 and received an impressive turnout by the community. ANNA Shelter, Community Blood Bank team up for Paws and Pints event 'The turnout is pretty amazing,' said Gretchen Wills, founder of the festival. 'I mean, I really didn't know what to expect as a first-time event, but we've sold more lanterns than I thought we would, and that was before people even bought them here, so we're definitely happy.' 'An event like this allows us to be able to do more to help our families and love on our familes and our community,' said Betty Jo Lyons, Executive Director of BWS. Other activities at the festival included bubbles, yoga on the beach, and an appreciation station where you could write down what you love about Edinboro. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Third annual Doggy Easter Egg Hunt underway at Paws and Pints

DES MOINES, Iowa — Rain or shine, Paws and Pints is hosting its third annual Doggy Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. The event is for humans and their best friends to both enjoy. They will have brunch available for people between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The brunch consists of mimosas and a waffle bar. The egg hunt will start between noon and 1 p.m. There will be plenty of kongs, or dog toys that resemble the shape of an egg, hidden for the pups to find. Each kong is marked with a number that is associated with a prize. Examples of prizes include treats and even a lifetime membership at Paws and Pints. The Easter Bunny will also make a stop at the party. The event normally takes place in the 3.5 acre backyard. However, because of the rain, all of the kongs will be hidden in their turf area. Paws and Pints has vaccination requirements for all dogs. For more information on these requirements, click here. The Doggy Easter Egg Hunt kicks off a string of summer events at Paws and Pints. More information on future events can be found here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Paws and Pints Wellness Weekend brings fun for pets and their humans

DES MOINES, Iowa — Paws and Pints celebrated their third Wellness Weekend on Saturday with the help of several vendors, including the Fi Smart Dog Collar. 'It's a way that we can give back, our customers and our members are so local to us so this weekend is a chance that we can give back to them,' said Kyle Casey, Owner and Cofounder of Paws & Pints. 'It means a lot to my wife and I, when we started this company, our goal was to be more active in the community and do things like today's event.' Paws & Pints is a local dog park that offers a good time for both pets and people. During the event, dogs enjoyed a foam party, pup cups, and unlimited tennis balls. Meanwhile, their owners learned about the latest in dog tracking and healthcare from more than 20 local vendors. Greenfield Mercantile grand opening brings business to rebuilding town In its first Des Moines appearance, the CEO and Founder of Fi Smart Dog Collar, Jonathan Bensamoun, showcased a collar that tracks your best friend's steps, sleep, and location. 'The collar is all about enabling dog owners to give their dogs the best lives they can and enjoy the outdoors like they are here at this park,' said Bensamoun. The product first hit the market five years ago, and Bensamoun said he was motivated after getting his own dog eight years ago. 'He's a German Shepherd, and when I got him, I was really worried about him exercising enough. You know German Shepherds are very active, so I wanted to make sure he was working out enough. I also wanted to make sure he didn't escape, so I tested out tracking devices and realized there was room for a new product out there.' Paws & Pints will wrap up their festivities Sunday with Puppy Yoga at 11 a.m. in their Training Facility, featuring adoptable puppies from Hope Animal Rescue of Iowa.
