Payal Ghosh opens up about battling depression and anxiety after two-year work hiatus

Actress Payal Ghosh opened up about her battle with clinical depression and anxiety after staying out of work for the last two years. Sharing her journey of coming out of this toughest phase of life, Payal said, "Neither did I get any support from the industry, be it the ones I knew or the ones with whom I worked earlier nor from my loved ones. It was all about me being entirely alone and all by myself. Every actor goes through a phase when no matter what you try, everything is working against you and nothing is working in your favour. The last two years were like that for me. There have been countless times when I have literally cried my heart out alone all by myself and spent days locking myself in my house out of anxiety, stress, and trauma. Be it my family or the industry, I didn't get any support from anyone and was all by myself at home." Payal revealed that she had to take the help of the professionals for her growing troubles, "The loneliness really hit me hard and it took a toll on my mental health really bad. I had to resort to professional help and medicine for those entire 2 years and each and every day passed like a nightmare. Having no work for a period of 2 long years is a long time. My savings were getting drained, my finances were taking a hit and so much more. "I really hope and pray that sooner or later, my work starts releasing for the audience so that I never have to go through such a dry spell ever again," the actress shared. However, Payal hopes that "no one has to go through the kind of stress and anxiety" she had to deal with. As relations between India and Pakistan soured, the Bollywood industry took a call to boycott all the Pakistani actors from the industry. During the war-like situation, Turkey was one of the countries that backed Pakistan. Now, many famous faces in India have come upfront to protest against Turkey. Recently, actress Payal Ghosh revealed that she canceled her trip to Turkey. Payal stated that 'backstabbing and tourism can't coexist,' reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that blood and water cannot flow simultaneously. Payal was offered a whopping amount of Rs 35 lakh, but she decided to turn down the offer. In a conversation with IANS, Ghosh shared, 'Well, no amount of money can come ahead of the country's respect and pride. I am an Indian first and an actress or artist later. Like our honorable Prime Minister mentioned that blood and water can't flow together, similarly, backstabbing and tourist visits and entertainment can't happen together.' 'If Turkey chose to be sided alongside Pakistan at a crucial time like that, they cannot expect revenue from our appearances as celebrities or from Indians and their tourism plans. I am very clear in my head, and that's why I have chosen to cancel my Turkey visit. God has been kind enough to bless me with what I need. I can't place my country as secondary for money. Jai Hind,' Payal Ghosh added. Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) called on Indian film producers to give it a second thought when selecting Turkey as a filming destination, amid Turkey supporting Pakistan in the war against India.

Actor Payal Ghosh Calls Out Pakistani Actor's 'Begum' Comment After Pahalgam Attack: 'Don't Scare Me'

Payal Ghosh claimed a Pakistani actor-friend warned her to learn 'Ilm al-Kalam' before visiting Kashmir after the Pahalgam attack. She slammed the friend publicly. Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi actor Payal Ghosh has claimed that a Pakistani actor-friend warned her to learn 'Ilm al-Kalam' if she planned to visit Kashmir after the Pahalgam attack. For the unversed, 'Ilm al-Kalam' is the Islamic study of theology and philosophy that uses logic and reasoning to explain and defend religious beliefs. Payal had previously shared on social media that she had discussed her Kashmir travel plans with this friend, who then made the suggestion. Payal Ghosh had reportedly booked her tickets to Kashmir about a week before the attacks and is now unsure about making the trip. Things escalated when her friend told her to either learn 'Ilm al-Kalam' or be ready for serious consequences. After Payal spoke out about this on social media, the Pakistani actor further upset her by saying she should be ready to become a 'begum' (wife) to stay safe during her visit. Payal reacted strongly, slamming him publicly on her social media handle. Taking to her Instagram story, she wrote, 'I can't be anyone's begum. Don't scare me and give me threats I'll still come to Jammu and kashmir you can't give me these threats …I won't learn Ilm al-Kalam. Jai hind I love my Country (sic)." Take a look: On being asked more about it, Payal shared, 'The audacity of this person has reached a new low. He is trying to threaten me regarding my travel plans in my own country all the way from Pakistan. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and I will definitely come there as per my plan. Such people are a disgrace to society." Previously, Payal condemned the ghastly attack on tourists at South of Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. 'You know what. They thought Kashmiris are going to live a good life with tourists around.. so they won't get agitated by these militants anymore.. so they killed the innocent tourists to escalate the fear among tourists to visit Kashmir and also they are trying to separate us on the basis of religion.. hello a**h**es .. we are Indians irrespective of caste, creed, religion.. you can never divide us.. Every Indian is angry now," she wrote. First Published:
