Centerville Rotary Club installs ‘Peace Pole'

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Thursday saw a local service organization unveil a tangible symbol of peace. The Centerville Rotary Club' 'Peace Pole' is now on display at Grant Park's Kennard Nature Nook. The pole is inscribed with a phrase written in nine languages: 'May Peace Prevail on Earth,' an expression of peace on a local and global scale. 'Concert for Peace' unites two iconic orchestras Leaders with the rotary club say that peace is apart of their mission and something that the world needs right now. 'Wanted to make it visible and attractive for folks to come,' said Kelly McDonald, the club's vice president. 'It's a place where educators can bring students to talk about peace. We use the language of tolerance for our community to make it welcoming to everyone, and if there's one thing the world needs more of now it's peace.' Symbol of world peace has home in Warren

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A symbol aimed at spreading world peace now has a permanent home in downtown Warren. The Warren Rotary Club unveiled its Peace Pole during a special ceremony Wednesday. It includes the message 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' in several different languages. The goal is to encourage people to think, talk, and take steps towards world peace. The Peace Pole is planted near the fountain on Courthouse Square. 'We think there's so much beauty in the downtown area, and we wanted to bring to that something more for people to come here and be able to sit and talk,' said Cindy Matheson, president of the Warren Rotary Club.
