Report: Georgetown's Micah Peavy had predraft workout with Thunder
The 2025 NBA draft is a day away. Which means it's that time of the year when prospects visit teams across the league to improve their stock. The Oklahoma City Thunder enter the 2025 NBA draft with three draft picks. They own the No. 15 pick (via Heat), No. 24 pick (via Clippers) and the No. 44 pick (via Hawks). The two first-round picks are interesting. The Thunder already have one of the deepest rosters. Fresh off a championship, don't expect much roster turnover. Adding on several rookies might be impossible. But that's all a pure assumption. Maybe OKC falls in love with a prospect in that range. One possibility is Georgetown's Micah Peavy. He reportedly had a predraft workout with the Thunder, per Locked On's Rylan Stiles. Peavy played five college seasons from 2020-25. He spent his first year at Texas Tech before transferring to TCU for his next three campaigns. His final year was at Georgetown. Peavy averaged 17.2 points on 48.1% shooting, 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 32 games last season. He shot 40% from 3 on 4.1 attempts. He was also a 65.9% free-throw shooter. He also had 2.3 steals. The 23-year-old is a 6-foot-8, 220-pound guard. The Thunder could add Peavy with the No. 44 pick in the second round. Or they could likely wait it out and add him as an undrafted free agent. He likely needs to impress in summer league to get added to the G League's OKC Blue roster. A full list of draft prospects that met with the Thunder can be checked here. The 2025 NBA draft is from June 25-26.

Boston Celtics draft prospects: Micah Peavy highlights
With the 2025 NBA draft just days away, Boston Celtics fans will be wondering who Brad Stevens will target with the 28th and 32nd picks on the board. Boston needs athleticism, length and shooting to help bolster the current bench rotation. The franchise is also expected to make multiple roster moves during the offseason, further accentuating its need for cost-controlled talent. We should expect Stevens to target multi-year college players. They come into the league with more polish, emotional IQ and are often ready to contribute from the jump. One player who could fit the bill is Micah Peavy out of Georgetown. The 6-foot-7 guard has spent the past four seasons in the collegiate ranks, playing for three teams in the process. Peavy has suited up for Texas Tech, TCU and most recently Georgetown. Peavy had a strong debut season for the Hoyas. In 32 games, he averaged 17.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists, while also having a career year in steals with 2.3 per game. Peavy shot the rock at a 40% clip from 3-point range and 48.1% from the field. Brickbat: Lawn Sign Litigation
Marvin Peavy, a homeowner in Walton County, Florida, won a lawsuit against the county after officials tried to fine him for hanging giant political banners on his house along Scenic Highway 30A. Peavy first put up signs in 2020 to support Donald Trump's first presidential reelection campaign, but the county said they violated property maintenance rules and started charging him $50 a day, totaling over $63,000 in fines. Peavy fought back, saying his right to free speech under the First Amendment allowed it, and after years of legal battles, a judge agreed, ruling that the county was infringing on his free speech. The judge also ordered the county to pay Peavy $42,000 to cover his legal fees. The post Brickbat: Lawn Sign Litigation appeared first on

Jake Peavy, 2007 NL Cy Young winner, rejoins Padres as special assistant to CEO
Jake Peavy, the former San Diego Padres pitcher and 2007 National League Cy Young Award winner, has rejoined the organization as a special assistant to CEO Erik Greupner, the team announced Thursday. Greupner said in a news release that Peavy will assist multiple departments in the organization and serve as a team ambassador. Advertisement 'I'm incredibly appreciative of this opportunity to reunite with my Padres family,' Peavy said in the release. 'San Diego has always held a special place in my heart. I'm a Padre through and through — from the moment I was drafted by the team until this very day, and I can't wait to work alongside this talented group and contribute in any way I can to the success of this great organization.' Peavy, 43, went from being a 15th-round draft pick out of Mobile, Ala., in 1999 to starring in San Diego by the mid-aughts. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2009 — weeks after he rejected a move to that same team — and he remained relatively estranged from the Padres organization until then-owner Peter Seidler and Greupner invited him to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before a 2022 postseason game at Petco Park. That reintroduction led to Peavy's entrance into the Padres Hall of Fame in 2023 and, now, his new role in the organization. 'We're excited for Jake to rejoin the Padres after an outstanding playing career,' Greupner said in Thursday's release. 'Beyond his impressive accomplishments on the field, Jake brings a passionate, competitive spirit and leadership qualities that align perfectly with our organizational values. His wisdom, experience and relationships in the game are invaluable as we continue to pursue a World Series championship for the city of San Diego and our fans.' Peavy remains the Padres' franchise leader in strikeouts (1,348) and ranks second in winning percentage, quality starts and strikeouts per nine innings. In his Cy Young-winning season, Peavy became the only Padre to secure a pitching Triple Crown, with 19 wins, a 2.54 ERA and 240 strikeouts. With the new role, Peavy will reunited with former Padres teammate Mark Loretta, another special assistant to Greupner. Peavy also will continue to work as an analyst for MLB Network.
