MIRI (May 22): The people of Miri extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to Muhammad Munawir from Central Java upon his arrival at the Sungai 7 Immigration Checkpoint in Kuala Baram on Monday. Munawir is on an extraordinary 'walking mission' from Indonesia to Makkah and Palestine, aimed at promoting peace, unity, and solidarity with Muslims around the world. The 6-month journey has so far taken Munawir across Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Munawir shared that he spent 15 days travelling through Sabah and four days in Brunei. He is currently in Miri and plans to continue his journey to Johor by plane this week. His arrival was warmly received by members of the Miri Kedayan Association, led by chairman Mohamad Abdullah Jamin. 'This noble effort of walking across countries stands as a symbol of strength and determination. Munawir carries with him a message of unity and hope for the Islamic world,' said Mohamad Abdullah. During his visit, Munawir also made a stop at the Wireless Walk, where he was welcomed by the Miri Melanau Association, represented by its chairman Abdullah Jaini; alongside Pelita Maslaut Sdn Bhd managing director, Masni Amit, and other members of the public who have been following his journey on social media. Munawir's journey is expected to gain further attention from international communities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), who are anticipated to offer both logistical and moral support as he continues his mission toward Makkah and Palestine. indonesia lead Makkah miri Muhammad Munawir walk
