Penang MAQIS in a statement announced that an inspection of the entire consignment of goods worth RM30,000 found that the goods did not have a valid MAQIS import permit. "The act of importing seaweed extract without a valid MAQIS import permit is an offence and the case is being investigated under Section 11(1) of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 (Act 728)," the statement said today.
