RTD seizes 14 vehicles driven by foreigners in Penang
BUTTERWORTH: The Penang Road Transport Department (RTD) seized 14 vehicles driven by foreigners during a special foreign driver operation (PeWA) held in Seberang Jaya.
RTD said the vehicles were confiscated last Friday. They included 11 motorcycles and three cars, all driven by foreigners without valid driving licences.
"Worse still, several of the vehicles inspected did not have valid Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and lacked insurance coverage," it said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page over the weekend.
RTD said the enforcement operation was carried out by its Penang Operations Unit, and that strict action would continue to be taken against foreign drivers who fail to comply with road regulations.
"Enforcement against foreign nationals who disregard traffic laws will be conducted continuously," it added.
