Penn Highlands Healthcare to offer free breast and cervical screenings in DuBois
DUBOIS, Pa. (WTAJ) — A free health screening event this May could be lifesaving for women in Central Pennsylvania.
Penn Highlands Healthcare announced it will offer no-cost breast and cervical cancer screenings on Monday, May 19, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center of Excellence, located at 123 Hospital Avenue in DuBois. The screenings are available by appointment only.
The event is hosted by Penn Highlands Breast Care Services and Penn Highlands Life's Journey OB/GYN and aims to increase access to essential women's health services and promote early detection of breast and cervical cancer.
Services provided include a clinical breast exam, mammogram, pelvic exam, and pap smear. The event is open to individuals with or without insurance.
To qualify, participants must be Pennsylvania residents who are biological females or transgender individuals who meet eligibility standards. Additional criteria include being between the ages of 40 and 64, having a gross household income at or below 250% of federal poverty guidelines, and being uninsured or underinsured. Those enrolled in Medicare Part B or Medicaid are not eligible.
