The 2026 Ram 1500 Express is back and starts at $44,495 Show Caption Hide Caption Dodge Ram trucks in Metro Detroit targeted in touch screen thefts Many who live in the Detroit area are on edge while police look for thieves stealing the dash screens out of various Dodge Rams. FOX 2 talked with a few theft victims who said his Ram truck was parked in his driveway when someone recently broke in. Fox - 2 Detroit It's no secret new cars today are way too expensive. But to offer an attractive value proposition, Ram is bringing back the 2026 Ram 1500 Express. With a starting price of $44,495, it's lower than the average new-car price and makes it one of the most affordable Ram 1500 models you can buy. The Ram 1500 Express can be optioned in either the crew or extended "Quad" cab layouts, and with a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive. You also get laser-etched interior trim, black bezel-surround LED headlights, a choice of five monochromatic exterior colors (black, white, gray and two blues), body-color front and rear bumpers, 20-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, and the 3.6-liter, 305-hp Pentastar V-6 motor as standard. For an extra $1,695, you can select the low-output version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-six engine, which produces 420 hp and unlocks the ability to tow up to 11,550 pounds when installed in a Quad Cab with rear-drive. Looking for some extra visual flair? The Ram 1500 Black Express Package includes a Sport hood, black badging and 20-inch wheels, LED fog lights, running boards, black cloth bucket seats and a 7-inch gauge cluster. This package is available only on Quad Cab and Crew 4WD models, and costs just $995. You can see the full 2026 Ram 1500 Express starting price breakdown below: Quad Cab 2WD: $44,495 Crew Cab 2WD: $47,245 Quad Cab 4WD: $48,345 Crew Cab 4WD: $51,095 The Express replaces the discontinued Ram Classic and marks the return of a popular value-focused and practicality-minded choice. Pickup trucks can now be optioned to rival even the most opulent SUVs, but sometimes you just want a well-equipped, no-frills truck to get work done. This seems to be that truck. Ram first offered the Black Express in 2013 and again in 2019. So, as much as we all love a hoo-rah Hemi-powered pickup, the 2026 Ram Express will no doubt benefit from the model's recent thorough midcycle update, which helped it earn the title of our 2025 Truck of the Year. This is the first example of Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis' plan to launch 25 product updates over the next 18 months. Not all the rollouts are known just yet, but it's an aggressive schedule. Order books for the 2026 Ram 1500 Express are now open, with deliveries scheduled to start in Q3 of this year. Photos by manufacturer

Ram Says 2026 Ramcharger Will Go 690 Miles, 145 on Battery Power

The 2026 Ram Ramcharger is scheduled to go on sale later this year, and Stellantis has just unleashed a tranche of updated specs and information about this EREV, or extended range electric vehicle. As a reminder, being an EREV means the Ramcharger effectively operates as an electric vehicle, but with a trick up its sleeve: when battery charge runs out, a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 kicks on to act as a generator, driving the electric motors powering the wheels and feeding power back into the battery. Ram touts it as the best of both worlds, claiming a total range of 690 miles between the 91.8-kWh battery pack and 27-gallon gas tank. It's been a year and a few months since Ram initially revealed the Ramcharger, though, and a couple details have changed between then and now. For one, total system output is slightly down. The dual-motor setup produces a combined 647 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque, decreases of 16 and five, respectively, from previous estimates. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is a tenth slower than claimed before, rated at 4.5 seconds instead of 4.4. We also learned that only 69.7 kWh of the 91.8 kWh battery pack is usable. Edmunds reports that this is built as a buffer to ensure there's no drop-off in performance as the state of charge descends. Our first thought here goes toward towing: The Ramcharger is rated to tow an impressive 14,000 pounds, so it'll need to produce its rated horsepower and torque in all conditions to ensure a seamless hauling experience. You'll have three different driving modes to choose from: Electric+, E-Save and Eco. Electric+ simply keeps the gasoline engine off until battery power is depleted. E-Save will run the engine and either maintain the current state-of-charge or actively boost the battery up to 50%. Lastly, Eco is an all-around energy saver, reducing power and putting creature comforts like climate control into more energy-efficient settings. The last big spec revealed is the Ramcharger's curb weight, ringing in at a mighty 7,507 pounds. That's heavier than the weightiest Ford F-150 Lightning or Tesla Cybertruck, even if it is around 1500 pounds lighter than GM's Chevy Silverado EV and Hummer EV SUT. Why so heavy? This is the first Stellantis vehicle to be built on its new STLA Frame platform, so it's not exactly a typical Ram 1500 underneath. The Ramcharger has a frame that's eight inches wider through its center section than a standard Ram 1500 — and don't forget that this truck is packing both a big battery pack, two electric motors and a gasoline engine with a big fuel tank, to boot. There's a lot going on under the Ramcharger, and it all translates to ample weight. Ram didn't reveal a specific price, but it did tell Edmunds that the base truck will be 'slightly more' expensive than the average transaction price of a full-size pickup when it goes on sale in the second half of the year. That would suggest an entry price of close to $70,000, considering the current average is approximately $65,000.
