June is full of activities. Here are seven events you might want to check out in the Peoria area this weekend. The Dragon's Fire Balloon Fest will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 27, and 5 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Avanti's Event Center, 3401 Griffin Ave., Pekin. Marvel at nearly a dozen hot air balloons as they float into the sky before gently returning to the ground. This community event will also feature live music by Capt. Quirk on Friday evening and the Matt Miller Band on Saturday evening, plus food trucks and beverages. Comedians frequently featured on the hit stand-up comedy podcast "Kill Tony" will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the Prairie Home Alliance Theater at the Peoria Civic Center. May is full of activities. Here are five events you might want to check out in the Peoria area this Memorial Day weekend. Friday Night Heights will take place Friday, May 23, at Tower Park, 4901 N. Prospect Road, Peoria Heights. Food and drinks from Tin Roof Smokehouse, Wolves Den Pizzeria, Emack and Bolios, Feels Like Ohm and Clink Mobile Bar will be available starting at 5 p.m., and live music from Patrick N' Swayze will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is free. The first Riverfront Market of the 2025 season will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 24, in the River Station parking lot, 212 SW Water St. The market will include fresh produce, local meats, eggs, berries, breads and cheeses from central Illinois. The market will also feature a one-of-a-kind selection of art, including pottery, jewelry, wood items, candles, soaps and more. Flowers, fruit and fresh veggies: These 9 Peoria-area farmers markets are open in 2025 Mackinaw Valley Vineyard's Music, Wine and Craft Beer Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 24, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the vineyard, 33633 Illinois Route 9, Mackinaw. This year's festival will feature over 50 wines and 60-plus craft beers for tasting and purchase from around the world.
