Man convicted of killing woman, 30, in Framingham in 2022
'This is a tragic case of domestic violence,' Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan said in a statement Friday. 'Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva was attempting to start a new relationship when the defendant violently attacked her. ... The defendant had made statements that he was not going to permit the victim and his daughter to live with anyone but him.'
Gomes-Da Silva's lawyer declined to comment.

According to a statement of the case filed in court by prosecutors, the couple lived together in an apartment on Taylor Street, where their landlord on the night of July 17, 2022, called 911 after seeing blood leaking from under the door of their unit.
Officers arrived to find Pereira-Da Silva 'unresponsive and covered in blood,' the filing said.
She had been stabbed multiple times on her chest, back, forearm, and shoulder, and both lungs and her heart were punctured, the report said. She was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police found Gomes-Da Silva 'lying supine on the kitchen floor' with a charging cord tied around his neck and a large amount of blood and a knife near him, prosecutors said.
He appeared to have cuts on his neck, wrists, and chest in an attempt to take his own life, officials said.
Gomes-Da Silva also left a note to the couple's daughter on the kitchen table.
The message, written in Portuguese, said 'he was sorry and that he was not going to let the daughter live with another man instead of him,' prosecutors said. 'It indicated that the daughter should contact her grandfather to arrange for her mother's return to a specific location in Brazil for burial and that she should sell all the family belongings.'
The age of the daughter wasn't specified.
Investigators also spoke with the victim's brother, who said Gomes-Da Silva had left him a voicemail earlier in the night confessing to the murder and vowing to kill himself, prosecutors said.
Authorities learned that Pereira-Da Silva had been romantically involved with another man for about two months before her death, officials said.
The day before the killing, Pereira-Da Silva and her new partner had told her daughter that she was 'pregnant with this other man's child.'
Ryan said Gomes Da-Silva's assertions that Pereira-Da Silva and their daughter could only live with him were harbingers of his fatal attack.
'This type of controlling behavior can often tragically lead to violence,' she said.
