The Chikkamagaluru Head Post Office and the Indian Postal Department introduced this special date seal with a picture depicting the region's coffee estates. NB Shrinath, superintendent of post offices, Chikkamagaluru division, officially unveiled the Permanent Pictorial Cancellation. This distinctive postmark, available at specific post offices, displays a permanent design representing a significant local feature. Upon request, it can be applied to various postal items, including letters and cards posted at the designated office. These special cancellations honour regional identity whilst appealing to philatelists. The philately division of the department of posts approves each design, according to Shrinath. The Chikkamagaluru coffee estates' cancellation highlights the area's historical connection to coffee cultivation, showcasing its agricultural legacy in national and international philatelic circles. The head post office in Chikkamagaluru will offer this Permanent Pictorial Cancellation.
