Wei Chong-Kai Wun go down fighting in Indonesian Open semis

Wei Chong-Kai Wun had beaten world No. 8 Sabar-Moh in the last four last year but the latter avenged their defeat by coming out on top 18-21, 21-12, 21-18 at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta on Saturday (June 7). World No. 7 Wei Chong-Kai Wun did well to come back and win the second game after losing the first but could not maintain their form against the spirited duo in the decider and lost in the match lasting an hour. Sabar-Moh will take on either teammates Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto or South Korea's Kim Won-ho-Seo Seung-jae for the title on Sunday (June 8).

He also congratulated the duo and their teammates, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, who finished as runners-up in the final held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, here on Sunday (May 25). "Amazing performance, boys! Well done! This clash truly thrilled supporters who had been eagerly waiting to see which team would take home the Perodua Malaysia Masters 2025 title. "This achievement is something to be proud of-not just a win on court, but a symbol of our national badminton's increasingly brilliant and promising future. "Keep striving for more victories!" he said in a Facebook post. Wei Chong and Kai Wun, who are currently ranked world number eight, delivered a spirited and consistent performance to clinch a 21-12, 15-21, 21-16 victory in a thrilling 50-minute showdown. The win ended a 12-year wait for Malaysia since Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah last lifted the Malaysia Masters title in 2013. - Bernama
