Court document: Witness identified suspect in deadly shooting
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a witness pointed them to the suspect in a deadly shooting in Kalamazoo last week that left a man dead.
Lamone Demetrius Hickman Jr., 19, was charged Monday with murder and weapons charges in the of Marktavion Perry-Bennett.

The shooting happened Thursday night in the area of N. Park Street and W. Paterson Street. A court document says Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers found Perry-Bennett with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the court document, witnesses told police the shooter was in a black Chrysler 300.
According to the court document, a witness called 911 the night of the shooting and asked to talk to investigators. When speaking to a detective, the witness reported hearing five gunshots.
'(The witness) confirmed Hickman Jr was the shooter,' the document reads in part.
The witness reported seeing Hickman put a handgun in his waistband and then say something about having shot Perry-Bennett, according to the document.
Police said they pulled up Hickman's cellphone records, which put him in the area of the shooting when it happened. He was found in Muskegon Friday and arrested.
Family recalled Perry-Bennett, 21, as 'sweet,' 'gentle and respectful and kind.' They said he was well-known around his neighborhood and loved to spend time with extended family.
Police have not said what the motive for the shooting may have been.
