Spirit of sacrifice, unity shines in Aidiladha celebration at Batu Kitang jetty

KUCHING (June 8): The Darat Lubok Buaya fishermen's jetty in Batu Kitang here was filled with warmth, unity, and community spirit today as residents gathered for the annual Aidiladha sacrificial meat distribution ceremony.
The event was officiated by Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim, who engaged with local community and to personally distributed portions of the sacrificial meat to recipients, including residents of Kampung Paya Mebi and members of the Persatuan Jeti Nelayan Darat Lubok Buaya.
Also present were Kampung Paya Mebi village chief Ismail Tangok, Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) councillor Shamsudin Unai, community leaders, and representatives from various associations.
In his brief speech, Ahmad underscored the significance of 'ibadah korban' as a reminder of the values of sacrifice, sincerity, and unity.
'Aidiladha teaches us the importance of helping one another, supporting those in need, and strengthening communal bonds,' he said.
'I am truly proud to witness the remarkable spirit of cooperation and mutual aid displayed by the residents and the fishermen's association,' he added.
Ahmad also expressed gratitude to all donors and organisers, voicing hope that such communal initiatives would continue to foster development, particularly in rural and coastal communities.
