Trump warns Iran of intensified strikes, urges immediate nuclear deal

ALBAWABA - Former US President Donald Trump, in his first public reaction to Israel's recent airstrikes on Iran, sent a strong message to Tehran's leaders, asking them to complete a nuclear deal before they face what he called "even more brutal" attacks. Trump said the current attack took Iranian authorities by surprise in a post on his website, Truth Social, on Friday morning. He added, "They didn't know what was coming—they're all dead now, and it's going to get worse." Although he stressed that the damage already seen might much increase, he maintained that there is still time to stop further deaths. Trump warned that the fall of what he dubbed "the former Persian Empire" would occur if Iran did not immediately accept a nuclear agreement. He underscored that Israel not only has such cutting-edge weapons but also understands how to use them effectively, and that more are on the way. He again emphasized the supremacy of U.S. military forces. According to reports, negotiations for a new nuclear deal have accelerated in recent weeks, but Tehran's insistence on continuing its uranium enrichment program is still a stumbling block. Trump said that despite harsh warnings from U.S. leadership, Iran had been given several opportunities to make a deal but had consistently failed to do so. Trump just threw every attempt by his Admin to make it look like Israel was "acting alone" and that the US wasn't involved out the window... He's making it clear that the US is directly involved in this war on Iran, and will continue to be.

Iran executes a man convicted over the 2023 attack on the Azerbaijan Embassy that killed 1 person

This is a locator map for Iran with its capital, Tehran. (AP Photo) TEHRAN, Iran — Iran on Wednesday executed a man who carried out a 2023 attack on the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tehran, killing its security chief and wounding two others in an incident that escalated tensions between the neighboring nations, state media reported. The state-run IRNA news agency reported the unidentified man's execution, without offering details, after his conviction. Typically, Iran hangs its condemned. Iran had called the January 2023 attack a personal dispute after the gunman's wife 'disappeared' on a visit to the embassy, but Azeri President Ilham Aliyev called it a 'terrorist attack.' Baku accused Tehran of supporting hard-line Islamists who tried to overthrow its government, a charge Tehran denied. Following the attack, the embassy was closed and its staff left the country. In April 2023, Azerbaijan expelled four Iranian diplomats. A month later, Iran expelled four Azeri diplomats. Azerbaijan reopened its embassy in a different location in July 2024. Azerbaijan borders Iran's northwest and was part of the Persian Empire until the early 19th century. There are also over 12 million ethnic Azeris in Iran who represent the Islamic Republic's largest minority group. Azerbaijan's diplomatic ties with Israel long have been a point of contention.
