Boating, bathing in rivers banned in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Keeping in view increase of water flow in rivers, boating and bathing in the rivers has been banned in the provincial capital Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda to prevent accidents on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud said that boating and bathing in the rivers have been banned under Section 144. He said that Police and civil defense personnel will be on duty to enforce the ban. In addition, orders have been issued to the district administrations of Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda to prevent excessive ticket collection in amusement parks. Along with this, orders have also been issued to the police to ensure the security of amusement parks and prevent indecent acts. No amusement park management will be allowed to collect self-proclaimed tickets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Hayatabad Economic Zone: Need to address violations of environmental regulations
PESHAWAR: The KP Department of Industries has directed the concerned authorities to organise a joint meeting of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI), Hayatabad Industrialists Association (IAP) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) to address serious violations of environmental regulations in the Hayatabad Economic Zone. These directives were issued during a high-level meeting regarding the administrative and environmental matters of industries in Peshawar division held here with Special Assistant to KP CM on Industries, Abdul Karim Tordher in the chair. Besides, Secretary Industries Aamir Afaq, Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud, Special Secretary Industries Muhammad Anwar Khan, Officiating CEO Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC) Adil Salahuddin, Director Environmental Protection Agency Jamshed Khan, SSP Peshawar, relevant WAPDA officials, administrative officers from districts Mohmand, Peshawar, and Khyber, office-bearers of the Marble Association Warsak Road and other departmental representatives attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed various issues facing industries and aligned administrative matters and decided that strict legal action would be taken against violators after the stipulated period. During the meeting, the commissioner Peshawar Division highlighted concerns regarding environmental pollution and hazardous emissions from certain industries in Peshawar, as well as the damage to road infrastructure caused by the overloading of industrial transport vehicles. Various proposals were discussed to devise appropriate solutions to these issues. The meeting also deliberated on infrastructure development, land acquisition, outstanding dues, and connectivity roads related to the Mohmand Marble City project, with directions issued for timely and suitable resolutions. Jogging, cycling track completed in Peshawar
The construction of a modern jogging and cycling track in Hayatabad, Peshawar's upscale residential area, has been completed and is set to open to the public later this month. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, will formally inaugurate the facility. The project, developed under the Peshawar Uplift Program Phase II, was overseen by Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud. The newly completed Sections A and B of the track represent the region's first modern facility designed to meet international standards for recreational infrastructure. Mehsud visited the site on Sunday and conducted a trial walk alongside project engineers to assess the final touches. The track stretches six kilometers along the Hayatabad Stream and features rest areas at every kilometer. Each rest stop is equipped with open-air gym equipment, promoting physical fitness and well-being. Additional amenities include washrooms, tuck shops, and other health-oriented facilities. The 20-foot-wide track is flanked by 5-foot-wide green belts on both sides, adorned with tall trees and ornamental plants to enhance the aesthetic and environmental appeal. Construction of the remaining two sections is progressing swiftly, with over 70 per cent of the work already completed.

PHC seeks report on Regi Lalma Housing Scheme
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sought a detailed report from the relevant committee within a month regarding a petition filed by the Regi Lalma Housing Scheme's affectees. During the hearing of the petition filed by Sirajul Haq Yousafzai and others, Justices Muhammad Naeem Anwar and Kamran Hayat were informed by the petitioners' lawyer Ayaz Khan Advocate that the victims had been waiting for 32 years to take possession of the plots allotted to them in 1994 in the Regi Lalma Housing Scheme. He said that previous court decisions and jirgas had also failed to resolve the issue and the petitioners were seeking immediate possession of their plots after three decades of delay. The court was also informed that a committee headed by the Commissioner Peshawar Division had been formed to look into the matter and resolve the issue effectively. However, the committee had failed to present its report during the previous hearing. The court directed it to submit its report within a month and adjourned the hearing.
