Ex-UFC champion BJ Penn shares video of bizarre arrest in Hawaii as police drag him out of his bed

Former UFC champion BJ Penn has shared footage of his bizarre run-in with police in Hawaii after being dragged out of his bed and arrested over the weekend. According to TMZ Sports, Penn, who won titles in two weight classes with the MMA promotion, was booked into jail in Hilo at around 9:40pm on Sunday on a charge of 'abuse family or household member: offensive physical contact." Hawaii police records state that the 46-year-old was released on $2,000 bail at 1:48am Monday, though further details surrounding the arrest are not available as of yet. Just over 24 hours on from his arrest, Penn uploaded footage on his Instagram story which appears to show him being confronted by officers in his bed at his Hawaii property. A number of cops can be seen trying to drag the ex-lightweight and welterweight king out of his bed while telling him that he was being arrested for 'harassment'. Penn, who could be heard asking to call 'an officer that I know' to deescalate the situation, was reluctant to go with the officers and repeatedly expressed confusion at what was playing out. Penn has encountered legal problems on multiple occasions in recent years, with the fighter recently making the extraordinary claim that his family members have been murdered and replaced by 'fake frauds.' The Hall of Fame fighter called on cops in Hawaii to launch an investigation, insisting he is the target of a conspiracy. He posted a series of disturbing social media posts about his mother, Lorraine Shin, and brothers Jay Dee, Reagan, and Kalani Mamazuka. 'Hilo Police Department I need your help. My mother… my brothers… we're (sic) all murdered and I need you to investigate,' Penn wrote on Instagram. 'I need you to investigate these guys get these people out of my house and my off my properties.' He claimed they had been replaced by imposters who are now trying to 'steal everything from his family'. Penn competed in the UFC between 2001 and 2019 and won world titles in two divisions before being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
