Chris Robinson, ‘General Hospital' And ‘Bold And The Beautiful' Actor, Dies At 86
Veteran actor Chris Robinson, a familiar face in the daytime scripted drama genre, died on June 9 at age 86.
"He peacefully passed in his sleep at his ranch near Sedona, Arizona," wrote actor MJ Allen on Facebook, who co-starred with Robinson in the 2022 independent film Just for a Week. "He had been in heart failure for some time and is his official cause of death."
Remembered as General Hospital's Dr. Rick Webber and The Bold and the Beautiful's Jack Hamilton, Christopher 'Chris' Robinson began his career as an actor in 1957 with an uncredited role in the crime drama The Midnight Story. Following three other low-budget early films - Beast From Haunted Cave (1959), The Diary of a High School Bride (1959) and Because They're Young (1960) - Robinson bowed on television in episodes of the western Colt 45 and the drama anthology Zane Grey Theatre in 1960. Dozens of other guest appearances followed until he was cast in the 1965 to 1967 war drama 12 O'Clock High.
In 1978, Robinson debuted on General Hospital and was a staple on the daytime drama for eight seasons. He began as a spokesperson for Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup in 1984, but his commercial gig was short-lived after a tax evasion scandal resulted in All My Childrens' Peter Bergman taking over his spot.
Following General Hospital, Robinson segued in daytime to Another World in 1988 for 20 episodes as Jason Frame. Then, in 1992, he began a 13-season recurring stint on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Robinson returned to General Hospital after a 16-year absence in 2002 where his Rick Webber character was brutally murdered. Then, in 2013, he appeared in a 50th-anniversary celebration episode as Rick's spirit.
His most recent credit was is the aforementioned film Just For a Week.
Robinson is survived by his wife of fourteen years, artist-actor Jacquie Shane-Robinson, sons Shane, Coby, Christian, Taylor, Christopher Robinson, Christopher Lance, and adopted son Robb Walker. He also is survived by five grandchildren.
