James Dean Fury is trained by his great uncle Peter, but his place in the Fury family tree can cause confusion - he is the Gypsy King's first cousin once removed. In a recent appearance on Sky Sports News there was an awkward moment as the presenter tried to explain where the fighter fits into the Fury family. He said to James Dean: "Can you help me here, so people will be wondering where you fit in the Fury family tree. "So Peter is your trainer but he's also your great uncle so he's your dad's brother?" James Dean corrected the host, saying: "No, he was my grandad's brother." "Grandad's brother, help me out over here," said the presenter in response. James Dean has been competing as an amateur since October 2021 and has amassed an 8-1 record in his nine outings. The 19-year-old's sole defeat came in April 2024 at the hands of Oladimeji Shittu. But he's bounced back with a whopping five wins in the space of two months.
