One of two German firms involved in the deal, Uniper is owned by the state. It said it has taken the decision to start the construction phase of its first wind farm scheme in East Ayrshire. (Image: Uniper) The project has been developed jointly with co-development partner Energiekontor UK Ltd, and Uniper will start the construction process as its sole owner. Once operational, the wind farm will have seven turbines and a generation capacity of 46.2 megawatts. Construction of the project is expected to start in 2027 with power generation due to start in 2028. The wind farm was granted initial planning consent by the local planning authority in 2022, with a modified application in 2024, following the submission of plans by Energiekontor UK Ltd.
