Ready for hits, Boise? Two more major outdoor concerts are coming this summer

Boise concert season will rock this summer — and it just got louder. Two more shows have been announced: one each at the area's two major outdoor venues. Grammy-winning pop-rock acts Toto and Christopher Cross will perform Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater in Nampa. And Cypress Hill and Atmosphere will bring hip-hop to Outlaw Field at Boise's Idaho Botanical Garden on Friday, Aug. 29. Lupe Fiasco and the Pharcyde will open. Known for hit songs 'Africa,' 'Hold the Line' and 'Rosanna,' Toto was a radio powerhouse in the 1970s and '80s — and remains so today on classic-rock stations. Cross is another ubiquitous hitmaker, famous for his early '80s smashes 'Ride Like the Wind,' 'Sailing' and 'Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do).' Tickets to the Toto and Cross concert become available to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday starting at $39.50 through Presales will run throughout the week, according to a press release. Formed in 1988, Cypress Hill went on to become one of the most recognizable West Coast hip-hop acts. Unforgettable hits such as 'How I Could Just Kill a Man' and '(Rock) Superstar' — along with the group's high-profile support for cannabis — cemented Cypress Hill's legacy. With roots back to 1996, Minneapolis duo Atmosphere has earned a die-hard following through relentless touring and prolific music output. General-admission tickets to Cypress Hill and Atmosphere become available to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday for $60 at Ticketmaster. Garden members will pay $55 during a presale that begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
