Bluestone dog show to raise funds for Wales Air Ambulance

The Bluestone Charity Terrier, Lurcher, Whippet, and Family Dog Show, which has been a hit in previous years, will take place at the Snooty Fox in Martletwy from May 31 to June 1. The event, organised by Rebecca Woods and her team, promises a fun day out for dogs and families alike. There will be stalls, a raffle, food, refreshments, and a licensed bar. Prizes include £100 for each show champion and £50 for each family and KC and Pick and Mix show champion. Major qualifiers are also available. Ms Woods, who is particularly excited about hosting the 'best of the West Championship', said: "This is the fourth year we have been running the show. "It is a really nice weekend every year, it is a nice day out for dogs, as well as families. "There's a big play area for the children to enjoy. "This year means a lot to me, after I lost my mum at the beginning of the year. "Every year, we've been lucky with the weather, so fingers crossed it will be sunny." The show has previously raised more than £1,200 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Glangwili Hospital. The Wales Air Ambulance was chosen as this year's beneficiary by a public vote on the show's Facebook page. The charity takes consultant-led hospital-standard treatments to patients and, if necessary, transfers them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury. Consultants can administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations at the scene of an incident. As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care. It relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road. Mike May, West Wales regional fundraising manager for Wales Air Ambulance, said: "A huge thank you to the organisers for deciding that the Wales Air Ambulance would benefit from this year's dog show. "The charity dog show is always a great success and a wonderful way to raise funds for good causes. "We really appreciate the support and hope the sun comes out for a successful show. "Every pound raised makes a lifesaving difference. "Fundraisers, like this one, will help us to continue to be there for the people of Wales when they need us most."
