The duo was supposed to perform at several festivals, including Utah's Kilby Block Party, Oregon's Pickathon, the Newport Folk Festival, Outside Lands in San Francisco, Milwaukee's Summerfest, and Louisville's Bourbon and Beyond Festival. PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Overall, Portland saw a decrease in the number of shooting incidents in 2024 compared to the year before. However, some neighborhoods continue to struggle with high rates of gun violence compared to the rest of the city. While there were 1,025 shooting incidents in the Rose City in 2023, last year's figure stands at 803, according to shooting incident statistics by the Portland Police Bureau. According to the data, it's been steadily declining ever since. In terms of gun-related homicides, there is a similar but slightly different trend. The peak number of gun-related homicides in the past five years happened in 2022, with 73. There were 56 gun-related homicides in 2023 and 53 in 2024. With the latest batch of shooting statistics released this month, the entirety of 2024's numbers are now available. So which Portland neighborhoods saw the most shootings last year? The Hazelwood Neighborhood in East Portland encompasses some major shopping centers, including Mall 205 and the Gateway Shopping Center, which are both next to major freeway exchanges. It has frequently topped the list for the neighborhood with the most number of shootings in years past. The two teens, ages 15 and 16, were both lodged in the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center. In terms of the number of gun-related homicides that happened in the Hazelwood Neighborhood in 2024, there were eight. In 2023, there were five gun-related homicides in Hazelwood.
