Injury-cursed Collingwood forward Dan McStay to miss two months with knee injury
Collingwood forward Dan McStay will miss at least 6-8 weeks with a grade three medial strain.
Magpies coach Craig McRae has confirmed the news for the injury-cursed big man.
McStay was subbed off after suffering a heavy knock in a marking contest during the third quarter of the blockbuster game on Friday.
The injury was to the same knee that he had reconstructed at the end of 2023.
It is bitter-sweet news for McStay with the club somewhat relieved there is no operation required.
'I just got a call from the doc,' McRae said on ABC radio on Saturday.
'Just some rehab and in in a brace and for a period of time. Around 6-8 weeks without being too precise.'
There was mixed reaction from fans after the upadte.
'As I feared, it's a severe MCL for McStay. A complete tear. Almost certainly won't return before the Pies' Round 14 bye. Terrible news. We will need to find a replacement of equal or better quality to try and cancel this out. We can't be left worse off,' one fan said.
However, considering it was not another ACL rupture, others looked on the glass half full side.
'This is a great result, could've been worse. Speedy recovery, McStay,' another fan said.
Another said: 'Better than expected. Get better soon Dan.'
