Mistakes to Avoid When Buying Your Luxury Bed Linen
Investing in luxury bed linen is one of the simplest ways to elevate your bedroom into a sanctuary of comfort and style. But with so many options available on the market, especially in the growing world of Luxury Bed Linen Australia, it's easy to fall into a few common traps that can turn your dream bedding purchase into a less-than-stellar experience. Here are the key mistakes to avoid when buying luxury bed linen to help you make the right choice. One of the most common misconceptions is that a higher thread count automatically means better quality. While thread count does play a role in the feel of your sheets, it's not the only factor to consider. Extremely high thread counts can be a marketing gimmick, with manufacturers inflating numbers without improving the actual comfort or durability of the fabric. Instead, look for sheets with a thread count in the sweet spot, generally between 300 and 600, and pay close attention to the type of cotton used. Egyptian cotton, Pima cotton, and Belgian linen are all top-quality choices. We often overlook the weave of the fabric, but it has a major impact on how your bed linen feels and behaves. For instance, percale offers a crisp, cool finish, while sateen has a silky smooth texture and a subtle sheen. Linen, on the other hand, is breathable and ideal for warmer climates, making it a favourite in many Aussie homes. When shopping for Luxury Bed Linen Australia, consider your climate, sleep preferences, and overall aesthetic before making your choice. It's tempting to go for what looks beautiful in the showroom or online, but remember: bed linen should, first and foremost, be functional. That luxurious silk-like set may look stunning, but you may soon regret your decision if it doesn't breathe well or requires high maintenance. Opt for bedding that balances elegance and practicality. Premium cotton, bamboo, or linen sheets offer visual appeal and comfort, making them ideal for long-term use. This may sound basic, but it's a mistake many people make, especially when buying fitted sheets. Australian beds come in various sizes, and dimensions can vary between brands. Buying linen that doesn't fit properly can cause constant frustration, especially with sheets that slip off the corners or duvets that bunch awkwardly. Always double-check the sizing before purchasing, and if you're investing in Luxury Bed Linen Australia, ensure the brand caters specifically to Aussie bed sizes for the perfect fit. Luxury doesn't mean maintenance-free. Many high-end bed linens require specific washing instructions to maintain their look and feel. Some need cold water washes, others can't go in the dryer, and certain fabrics may wrinkle easily or fade if not handled correctly. Before committing, check the care label. If the maintenance feels like too much of a hassle, consider opting for fabrics like bamboo or cotton blends, which are easier to care for while still offering that luxe feel. Modern luxury isn't just about comfort—it's also about conscience. When choosing Luxury Bed Linen in Australia , consider how and where the product was made. Are the materials organic? Is the cotton fair-trade certified? Has the company taken steps to reduce its environmental impact? Sustainable bedding isn't just a trend; it's a responsibility. Many sustainable brands offer exceptionally high-quality products that compete with or outperform their traditional counterparts. If you're shopping in-store, don't hesitate to feel the fabric between your fingers. If you're allowed, lie down on display beds. What feels smooth and luxurious to one person might not appeal to another. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to texture and weight. Online shopping for Luxury Bed Linen in Australia is booming, but many reputable brands offer fabric swatches or generous return policies, so you can try before you fully commit. Take advantage of those options where possible. It's not just about the sheets. When buying luxury linen, you should consider the entire ensemble: pillowcases, duvet covers, and even mattress protectors. Mixing and matching textures and tones can give your bedroom a designer look, but sticking with a cohesive set ensures harmony and comfort. Many Australian brands offer complete sets or bundle discounts—perfect for those looking to give their bedroom a full refresh in one go. Buying Luxury Bed Linen in Australia means investing in better sleep, better health, and better living. But as with any investment, a little research goes a long way. Avoiding these common mistakes will not only help you choose the right bedding but also ensure that your linen stays plush, stylish, and functional for years to come. Remember, true luxury is in the details. Take the time to make informed choices, and your bedroom will reward you with the restful escape you deserve. TIME BUSINESS NEWS

Trump Tariffs Could Offer Lifeline for World's Finest Cotton
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Egypt, long recognized for its premium cotton, could gain ground in the global market as a result of President Donald Trump's tariff war with China, industry experts say. Newsweek has reached out to the Egyptian Agriculture Ministry for comment. Why It Matters New U.S. tariffs on Chinese textiles, introduced under the Trump administration in early 2025, could offer a much-needed lifeline to Egypt's legacy extra-long staple cotton, that risks fading from the global scene as a result of the country's inability to keep pace with shifting global supply chains. Although tariffs were also imposed on Egypt and other cotton producers, those are lower than on China. While U.S. Pima cotton remains a high-quality alternative, the loss of Egypt's long-staple variety would accelerate brands' shift towards less expensive more readily available synthetics and lower-grade imports. A picture taken on September 13, 2018 shows an Egyptian farmer working in a cotton field in the Egyptian Nile Delta town of Kafr el-Sheikh. KHALED DESOUKI/AFP/Getty Images What To Know Egypt's cotton cultivation has suffered in recent years, as has its textile production. But the Egyptian government is pushing to modernize textile manufacturing; a policy strategically aligned to expand the industry due to the U.S. imposing much higher tariffs on other countries. "The US didn't impose tariffs on Egypt alone. It imposed much higher tariffs on other countries. This gives Egypt a very good opportunity to grow," Magdy Tolba, chairman of the Egyptian Turkish joint venture T&C Garments, told Reuters. Egypt is seeking to redress a trend outlined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in April 2025 that raised questions over the long-term viability of its premium varieties—especially extra-long staple (ELS) and fine long-staple (LS) cottons. In recent years, some luxury brands have shifted from Egyptian premium cotton to alternative sources such as U.S. Pima cotton or high-grade synthetics due to supply instability and quality concerns. A 2016 controversy over the mislabeling of '100% Egyptian cotton' by Indian textile company Welspun—whose products were sold by Walmart, Target, and Bed Bath & Beyond—damaged the global reputation of Egyptian cotton, prompting the government to enforce stricter quality control measures. What People Are Saying Magdy Tolba, chairman of the Egyptian Turkish joint venture T&C Garments told Reuters: "The US didn't impose tariffs on Egypt alone. It imposed much higher tariffs on other countries. This gives Egypt a very good opportunity to grow." Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in cabinet meeting: "The world is currently witnessing a global war by all standards; it is not a military war but a comprehensive trade and economic war using all possible weapons. "This situation, while presenting a challenge, also includes some opportunities. Several international reports have indicated that some countries are likely to benefit from these challenges, including Egypt in the sectors of industry and investment." What Happens Next As Egypt adjusts domestic policies to navigate shifting cotton dynamics, questions remain whether competitors will move fast enough to take advantage of the trade gap created by U.S. tariffs.

Stanton and Ansari demand return of Arizona Native heroes to Pentagon website
Ira Hayes, alongside five other Marines, raised the U.S. flag on the island of Iwo Jima at the summit of Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945. Photo by Joe Rosenthal | Associated Press/public domain Content about two prominent Arizona Native American veterans that was removed from the U.S. Department of Defense's website during a purge of information that didn't focus on the accomplishments of white men remains missing. The purge came in response to President Donald Trump's executive order banning diversity, equity, and inclusion in the federal government. Stories and details about U.S. Marine Ira Hayes, who is Pima/Akimel O'odham from the Gila River Indian Community, alongside U.S. Army Specialist Lori Ann Piestewa, who is Hopi, remains absent from the Defense Department's website. As of Tuesday, a keyword search for Ira Hayes still brings up zero results, and only one article appears for Lori Ann Piestewa. SUBSCRIBE: GET THE MORNING HEADLINES DELIVERED TO YOUR INBOX U.S. Reps. Greg Stanton and Yassamin Ansari sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth, urging the reinstatement of content featuring Hayes and Piestewa. 'Efforts by the DOD to recognize any veteran's selfless service to our nation have nothing to do with any type of DEI Initiative,' the Phoenix Democrats wrote. Stanton and Ansari wrote in the letter that, due to the sovereign status of tribal nations and their members, Indigenous people are correctly viewed as political entities, not racial groups. They cited U.S. Supreme Court precedent and long-standing legal doctrine. 'Other mistakenly removed references to Native American veterans and service members have been restored, but information on these two pivotal figures is still missing,' they wrote. The DOD also deleted websites about the Navajo Code Talkers who were instrumental to America's victory in the Pacific Theater in World War II. Hayes, alongside five other Marines, raised the U.S. flag on the island of Iwo Jima at the summit of Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945. He was part of the 5th Marine Division and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima until the island was secured on March 26, 1945. The photograph of the flag raising during the Battle of Iwo Jima is one of the most iconic images of World War II, taken months into the battle by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal. 'The history of Ira Hayes and his bravery during this pivotal battle and at the flag raising is a point of pride and inspiration for the Gila River Indian Community—as it should be for all citizens of the United States,' Stanton and Ansari wrote. Piestewa served with the 507th Maintenance Company during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In March 2003, at 23 years old, she became the first service woman killed in action in Iraq and the first Native American woman to die in foreign combat in the service of the United States. Stanton and Ansari note in their letter how former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano renamed a mountain in the Phoenix area and State Route 51 in Piestewa's honor a month after she died in combat. They also highlighted how, as the mayor of Phoenix, Stanton advocated for renaming several streets in the city to honor her sacrifice. 'We must never forget the sacrifices made by Native American veterans and service members throughout our nation's history,' they stated. Indigenous people across the United States serve in the armed forces at five times the national average, according to the National Indian Council on Aging, and have served with distinction in every major conflict for over 200 years. 'It is with this history in mind, with our great pride in these incredible Arizonans, that we request the immediate and full reinstatement of all information pertaining to Pfc. Ira Hayes and Army Specialist Lori Piestewa to the DOD website,' the letter states. SUPPORT: YOU MAKE OUR WORK POSSIBLE
