One of the investors, a 50-year-old housewife from Bhavani Peth, lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday night. According to the FIR, the duo took money from people in 2020 with the promise of handsome returns in a year. The investors invested by transferring money to their accounts or using UPI applications. However, after a year, the duo did not provide any returns. Senior inspector Uttam Gitte of Samarth police station told TOI, "For the next year, the duo kept making promises to the investors, saying they had some monetary issues due to Covid-19 lockdown."
"After a year, the duo did not answer the phone calls of the investors and did not return the money," Gitte said.
