Matt Pinfield, radio host and former MTV VJ, hospitalized after 'massive stroke' TV and radio personality Matt Pinfield was hospitalized earlier this month after suffering a medical crisis. The former MTV VJ, 63, suffered a "massive stroke" on Jan. 6, according to court documents obtained Thursday by USA TODAY. Pinfield's daughter, Jessica Pinfield, filed a petition Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court to place her father under a temporary conservatorship amid his health issues. Per Jessica Pinfield's filing, the radio host is "incompetent to make health and/or make financial decisions/ pay bills" following his stroke. Pinfield has reportedly remained hospitalized since the health ordeal took place, a representative for the radio personality confirmed to Variety and Billboard. USA TODAY has reached out to Pinfield's rep for comment. The day of his stroke, Pinfield shared a photo on Instagram that appeared to show him at work, with the host sitting in front of a camera. "Starting another week with gratitude for a life surrounded by great people, life changing music, and unforgettable experiences that I never take for granted," Pinfield wrote at the time. "(Here's) to another week-another day-open heart and open mind. Let's rock!" His personal property has an estimated value of $1 million. A hearing on the proposed conservatorship will be held Feb. 6 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. Following a decadelong stint as an on-air personality and DJ in his native New Jersey, Pinfield became the host of MTV's "120 Minutes" in 1995, hosting the alternative music-centric program from 1995-1999 and again from 2011-2013. Pinfield has hosted other MTV series such as "MattRock," "Pinfield Suite," "Pinfield Presents," "Rocks Off," "Say What?" and "MTV Live."
