Superintendent of Police (investigation) Saurav Jindal on Tuesday said the arrested individual, Ankit Rana (21), a resident of Ucha Chandna village in Yamunanagar, is associated with the notorious Kala Rana and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs. Rana was apprehended from his native village by a team led by Inspector Harminder Singh of the CIA wing. Kala Rana is lodged in Delhi jail at present. According to Jindal, the two suspects had first stolen a motorcycle from Haridwar, Uttarakhand, before carrying out two back-to-back crimes — one in Yamunanagar and the other in Mohali. The stolen motorcycle was used in both incidents, and an FIR for the theft is registered at Haridwar. The Mohali firing incident took place outside Pinky Dhaliwal's home around 10pm on May 24. As per the complaint filed by his son, Gurkaran Singh Dhaliwal, two unidentified men initially approached the house asking for the address. They returned shortly afterward, left a threatening note on the gate, opened fire at the property, and fled the scene. The note mentioned the "Kala Rana Lawrence Bishnoi Group" in English. The case was registered at Mataur police station under multiple sections of the BNS and Arms Act. Police revealed that Rana has a criminal background, with a previous snatching case registered against him at Chhapar police station in Yamunanagar. During interrogation, he admitted to also being involved in a shooting at the Flying Colors International Center in Bilaspur, Yamunanagar, on May 15. That case is under investigation by Bilaspur police.

Gangster Kala Rana behind firing at Pinky Dhaliwal's house? Extortion possible motive
1 2 3 Mohali: A day after the residence of Punjabi music producer Pushpinder Dhaliwal, also known as Pinky Dhaliwal , in Sector 71 in Mohali came under heavy fire, police suspected the role of gangster Kala Rana behind the incident, saying extortion was a possible motive. A letter bearing the name 'Kala Rana' was thrown near the house by the shooters, police said. Police said two motorcycle-borne assailants fired nine shots outside the house late on Thursday night. A police team recovered nine bullet shells from the spot. CCTV footage traced the suspects who went towards Zirakpur from Mohali. The motorcycle used in the attack had an Uttar Pradesh registration number. Police sources have identified one of the suspects as Mani Rana, brother of gangster Kala Rana, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. The same individuals are believed to have been involved in a similar firing incident in Yamunanagar earlier that day. Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said, "We have got their CCTV footage and traced them till Zirakpur. It was an extortion case, but the family did not inform the police. A total of nine bullet shells were recovered from the spot. We have also been told that the same miscreants fired gunshots in Yamunanagar earlier in the day, which is being verified." Police believe the motive behind the firing was extortion, although no prior complaint was made by the family. Pinky Dhaliwal has been in the news in recent months after being accused by popular Punjabi singer and actress Sunanda Sharma of unlawful, exploitative, and defamatory conduct. She alleged that his actions caused her financial loss, mental trauma, and reputational damage. Dhaliwal was arrested in March, but later released after the Punjab and Haryana High Court declared the arrest illegal. The investigation into Thursday night's firing is ongoing.
