PSU marks 50 years of MBA program with alumni celebration
PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Pittsburg State University program celebrates a major milestone. May marked 50 years of the Kelce College of Business's MBA program. More than 2,300 living alumni have graduated from the program in the past five decades, going on to work in businesses around the world. The MBA program is still growing, with two new master's degrees in Human Resources Development and Professional Accountancy available online starting this fall. It's a program that's received statewide accolades. 'The second milestone that we are celebrating here at Pitt State in the Kelce Graduate School of Business is a recent ranking by the Wichita Business Journal, which places the MBA Program at Pitt State as number two in terms of enrollment, just behind the University of Kansas,' said Chelsey Decker, PSU Assistant Dean for Graduate Business Programs. Doug Ball named interim president at Pittsburg State University
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg State will soon have a new leader, at least temporarily. Last week, the Kansas Board of Regents announced that Chief Financial Officer/Vice President for Administration Doug Ball will be the university's interim president. Ball will fill the spot currently held by DR. Dan Shipp, who is leaving at the end of May to become the next president of Maryville University in St Louis. Ball has served in his current role at Pitt State since 2017 and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from PSU. A search committee is narrowing the field of applicants to find Pitt State's next president, but school leaders say that could take a while. ROTC Commissioning Ceremony held at PSU
PITTSBURG, Kan. — It is a commencement weekend at Pittsburg State. Ceremonies began on Friday, and run through Saturday afternoon. The one Friday morning was the annual 'ROTC commissioning' ceremony. 13 cadets were commissioned, of course, now officers, at the university's 'Veterans Memorial'. Each newly minted officer took an oath and was then pinned by a family member. For many of these young men and women, the ones at home have also played an important role in this process. 'As a family. They've been your backbone supporting them, and everything I do is to help them in the future and they're my support and then my inspiration to keep on going,' said Lt. Ana Cisneros, PSU ROTC. Pitt State celebrates students signing on 'Electrical Technology Day'
PITTSBURG, Kan. — 22 Pittsburg State students signed on the dotted line today, and began the next chapter of their lives. 'Electrical Technology Day' saw 22 students accepting jobs from 16 companies in their field of study. Instructors say many of those student had multiple offers to choose from. Carson White, who signed with DG Electric in Kansas City, Kansas, says he's already familiar with the company after a summer internship. White tells us he'll work with the company while he spends the next two years studying construction management. More on PSU… 'They teach you from the ground up, I mean, they take what you've got and they just build on top of it, so, I mean, they've been super great to me, and being able to have them down here, and also being to help them out in return, kind of like a, you know, partnership,' said Carson White, signing with DG Electric. 'You see the football players, and softball players, and volleyball players doing the same thing, and we might not be playing sports, but we're going to go into the workforce and we're going to make a difference, too, and we want to celebrate those accomplishments. These are not just jobs, these are careers that these students are landing. It's a great time to be an electrician,' said Clint Myers, PSU asst. professor of electrical technology. 'Signing Day' started in 2019 with three students and one company. It's grown so much, they've had to find a larger facility to accommodate the signings. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. 'You know, people come to us, and they want help with utilities or rent or other things, and at least 3 out of every 5 people are asking for food. And so, you know, we direct them to Wesley House when it's open, but, of course, if they're not open then we tell them we give them what we can. Someone donates food to us, we'll give it back. You know, we give that back out,' said Maj. Brenda Pittman, Pittsburg Salvation Army.
