Chandigarh adds feedback feature to WhatsApp complaint system to boost civic services: official
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) has strengthened its WhatsApp-based complaint system by integrating a new feedback mechanism.
In addition to sanitation issues, the upgraded platform will also allow citizens to report the use of plastic carry bags and other banned plastic items.
So far, the MCC has received 271 complaints through the WhatsApp number, of which 222 have been resolved, and 10 are currently under process, sources said
The new feedback feature has garnered 17 responses, all of which have been positive, reflecting public satisfaction with the system's responsiveness.
Announcing the development, Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar said, 'The platform has already proven effective in swiftly addressing public grievances.'
The system, accessible via WhatsApp number 9915762917, primarily addresses sanitation-related complaints such as open dumping of waste in public areas.
'The WhatsApp complaint number has been instrumental in directly connecting with citizens. With the addition of a feedback feature, we are making the system more transparent and accountable,' he said.
'With this, we are empowering citizens to help enforce the city's commitment to a 'Plastic Mukt Chandigarh',' the MC Commissioner added.
Kumar said public participation is vital in maintaining cleanliness and civic discipline. 'This initiative turns residents into active stakeholders in city management,' he noted, encouraging more people to utilise the service and share their feedback.
