Fortune Reacher's Alan Ritchson will star in the next movie from Minecraft writers Neil Widener and Gavin James at Skydance, an action-adventure described as 'Memento meets Raiders of the Lost Ark.' Evil Dead Burn Deadline reports Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), and Tandi Wright (Pearl) have joined the cast of Evil Dead Burn in undisclosed roles. Play Dead Deadline also has word Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) has joined the cast of Jaume Collet-Serra's mysterious next film, Play Dead. KPop Demon Hunters A K-Pop group must stop demons from stealing the souls of their adoring fans in the trailer for KPop Demon Hunters, coming to Netflix this June 20. Untitled Sea Monster Series According to Deadline, Josh Hartnett is attached to star in a currently untitled series at Netflix as 'a hard-bitten fisherman [who] must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life' from 'a mysterious sea creature' terrorizing Newfoundland. Black Mirror's Jessica Rhoades will co-produce the new series alongside Hartnett, himself. Vision Quest During a recent appearance on Katee Sackhoff's podcast, showrunner Terry Matalas offered a brief tease of when Vision Quest will be set. The timeline is definitely navigated. At the end of WandaVision, the original Vision was rebuilt and weaponized, and then had a moment of discovery and acceptance of who he was. Then [he] flew off… [Vision Quest] is following that character, and that character's journey. The Boys Speaking to Deadline, showrunner Eric Kripke teases plenty of carnage to come in the show's final season. There will probably be lots of death… there's no guarantee of who's gonna survive. Matthias Schweighöfer Joins Noah Jupe In Jaume Collet-Serra's Thriller ‘Play Dead'
EXCLUSIVE: Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of Thieves) has landed a lead role opposite Noah Jupe in Play Dead, the new survival thriller from Carry-On's Jaume Collet-Serra described as Don't Breathe meets 1917. Further plot details remain under wraps, as do the roles of the duo. Production has just kicked off in Australia. Akiva Nemetsky and Keaton Heinrichs are producing for Nocturnal, along with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert for Ghost House, JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules for BoulderLight, and Dane Eckerle for Bad Grey. Romel Adam and Jose Cañas are overseeing for Ghost House, with Louis Winters overseeing for BoulderLight. Scott Greenberg of LBI is exec producing, with Jazmyn Tanski overseeing. German actor Schweighöfer is perhaps best known for directing, producing and starring in Netflix's Army of Thieves, the prequel to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, where he also starred. Upcoming, he'll be seen starring in the mystery thriller Brick for Netflix, which will be released on July 10, as well as the thriller series Vanished from Amazon opposite Kaley Cuoco. Additionally, he lends his voice to Pixar's Elio, which releases on June 20. Other recent projects for Schweighöfer include Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, Milli Vanilli biopic Girl You Know It's True, Netflix's Family Switch opposite Jennifer Garner, Heart of Stone opposite Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan — also for Netflix — and The Swimmers for director Sally El Hosaini. The actor is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment. Carry-On Director Jaume Collet-Serra Finds Next Project in Thriller Movie Play Dead
Carry-On director has found his next project. Collet-Serra recently directed Carry-On, the hit Netflix movie that stars Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman. He's also worked with Liam Neeson on a number of movies, including 2011's Unknown, 2014's Non-Stop, and more. Per Deadline, Collet-Serra has now been tapped to helm a new survival thriller movie titled Play Dead. Plot details for Play Dead remain under wraps at this time; however, Deadline's sources described the movie as 'Don't Breathe meets 1917.' The former title is the 2016 horror movie directed by Fede Álvarez, while the latter is the war movie from Sam Mendes that was released in 2019. The script comes from Peter Stanley-Ward & Natalie Conway. Akiva Nemetsky and Keaton Heinrichs are producing the film for Nocturnal alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert for Ghost House Pictures, JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules for BoulderLight Pictures, and Dane Eckerle for Bad Grey. Scott Greenberg serves as an executive producer. Collet-Serra made his feature film directorial debut in 2005 with House of Wax. He followed that up with 2007's Goal II: Living the Dream and 2009's Orphan before he then went on to helm Unknown and Non-Stop. He then reteamed with Neeson again for 2015's Run All Night before directing Blake Lively in 2016's The Shallows. Following that was another Neeson action movie, 2018's The Commuter. After that, he worked with Dwayne Johnson on two movies: 2021's Jungle Cruise and 2022's Black Adam. Prior to Stay Dead, Collet-Serra's The Woman in the Yard is releasing in United States theaters on March 28, 2025. That movie is a psychological horror film that stars Danielle Deadwyler, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Russell Hornsby. Additionally, Collet-Serra has been tapped to direct a reboot of 1993's Cliffhanger starring Lily James and Pierce Brosnan. A release date for Play Dead has not yet been announced.
