Top 5 things fan hope for in a GTA 4 remaster

In the midst of GTA 6 madness, rumors are circulating about a possible GTA 4 remaster. While GTA 5 continues to be a giant in the franchise, many believe that no one can tell a story like GTA 4. If Rockstar Games can get the remaster right, they may be able to create a remaster that is better than GTA 5. Amidst the immense hype of GTA 6, there have been rumors about a GTA 4 remaster. GTA 6 is set to be released on May 26, 2026, so GTA 5 is still the greatest game of this franchise. However, there are people who think GTA 4 is still the best of the lot. Yes, GTA 4 couldn't reach the level of its successor, but the way this 2008 title shaped up the narrative depth, no other titles has ever been able to do that in this long-hailed series. However, if Rockstar Games sorts some aspects out in the potential remaster, then it can surpass GTA 5 for sure. Despite using three separate protagonists, GTA 5 could never reach the heights set by its predecessor's t's single-protagonist based narrative. However, apart from storytelling, there were several issues with the game. Also, as the title is close to two decades old, there are many things Rockstar needs to add to address today's generation. Here are they: 5. Enhanced performance on all platforms There is no doubt that as a remaster, this rumored title needs serious visual overhaul. GTA 4 was indeed a huge graphical leap from its predecessors, but to stand a chance amidst today's modern-graphics titles, it needs to have huge enhancement in its visuals. Also, as it was only available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, GTA 4 remaster should be released on all kind of modern-gen consoles, like PlayStation 5 & Pro, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, etc. 4. Modernization GTA 4 was released in 2008. So in order to fit into today's generation, the developers must address some issues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Advanced Strategic Management IIMK ASMP Apply Now Undo For example: some Quality-of-Life improvements like faster loading times, customizable controls, enhanced user-interface, and many more. 3. Keeping intact the same vibe As it's going to be a potential remaster, there are going to be a lot of changes for sure. But one thing in GTA 4 that Rockstar shouldn't touch is its iconic dark-noir atmosphere. Unlike any other title in the franchise, GTA 4's in-game tone is a lot more graver. 2. Inclusion of DLC Rockstar never stopped providing expansions for GTA Online, but never cared to give one for GTA 5. That's not the case with GTA 4, as it got two - 'The Lost and Damned' and 'The Ballad of Gray Tony.' However, Rockstar needs to add these two DLCs in a single remaster for a seamless experience. Any new DLC would be a bonus. 1. Graphical optimisation This has to be the most needed aspect developers need to assure for GTA 4 remaster. The game runs smoothly on its native consoles, but was a disaster for the PC fans. Even today, the game is not graphically optimised for all PCs, unlike GTA 5. That is why Rockstar Games needs to make sure that the game will be able to run smoothly on all forms platforms. Sony drops iconic mascot from PlayStation Productions line-up

Getting the sack? (Sony/YouTube) A staple PlayStation character appears to have been shoved to the side, as he disappears from a trailer ahead of the Until Dawn movie. LittleBigPlanet was once a key franchise for Sony during the PlayStation 3 era, but its prominence has dimmed over recent years. The last entry was 2014's LittleBigPlanet 3 on the PlayStation 3 and 4, which was the first mainline game not primarily developed by original creator Media Molecule. Since then, protagonist Sackboy has had his own platformer in 2020's Sackboy: A Big Adventure, along with a 2023 mobile game you probably didn't know existed called Ultimate Sackboy. If it feels like Astro Bot has taken over as Sony's default family friendly mascot, and that appears to have been confirmed in a new PlayStation Productions trailer. As highlighted by X user realradec, Sackboy has been scrubbed from the opening PlayStation Productions video at screenings of the Until Dawn film adaptation. 'I don't like this era of Sackboy erasure,' they wrote. A screenshot of the character line-up in this version shows Astro Bot, Ratchet & Clank, Nathan Drake, the Psycho from Until Dawn, and others, but there appears to be no reference to Sackboy at all. Sackboy prominently featured in the 2022 PlayStation Productions trailer (as seen below), which was played before screenings of Uncharted starring Tom Holland. It's unclear why Sony would drop Sackboy from the line-up, but the character has popped up elsewhere recently. Last year, Sackboy briefly appeared in an episode of Amazon's Secret Level, so it's possible this lack of representation is just an oversight. However, Sony hasn't treated LittleBigPlanet fans with much respect over recent years. In 2024, Sony permanently shut down the LittleBigPlanet 3 servers on PlayStation 4 after it was targeted by mods which threatened the game's security, wiping out access to millions of user-generated levels in the process. This came after Sony switched off the PlayStation 3 servers for LittleBigPlanet 1, 2, and 3 in 2021. An evolution of the user-generated levels concept was the basis of Media Molecule's 2020 title Dreams, but despite positive reviews, it failed to find an audience, and support for the game was dropped in April 2023. It's unclear what Media Molecule is working on next, and if it will see them return to Sackboy, but the studio was hit by layoffs in October 2023. Sackboy's last major outing – will it be his last? Sony is bringing back classic PlayStation console themes for PS5

PS5 themes to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary will officially return this week, as Sony rolls out an update to improve audio. PlayStation's 30th anniversary may have served as a reminder of Sony's distant past, but there was one celebration which delivered the right kind of nostalgia. In December, Sony rolled out an update which added the original PlayStation's bright white boot-up sequence to the PlayStation 5, along with some additional customisation where you could change the theme of the dashboard to past console generations. These additions were only intended for a limited time, but several months after they were stripped away, Sony is bringing the classic themes back, thanks to popular demand. As highlighted in a PlayStation blog post, the prior themes based on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 consoles, will be available on PlayStation 5 following an update, which will roll out globally starting from Thursday, April 24. Once the update is installed, you'll be able to change themes in the 'Appearance' menu under settings. Unfortunately, there's no mention of whether the original PlayStation's boot-up sequence is also making a comeback – so it's likely that this is just the themes themselves. Elsewhere in the update, Sony is rolling out an Audio Focus toggle which is designed to 'make soft sounds clearer when using headphones'. More Trending When Audio Focus is switched on, you can adjust different presets, so you can boost the sound of in-game character voices, sound effects in the environment, party voice chat, and other elements. Additionally, you can adjust the sound's focus across the separate left and right headphones, for an extra layer of accessibility. Earlier today, Sony also announced PlayStation 5 exclusive Ghost Of Yōtei will be released on October 2, 2025, following Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Bungie's Marathon. Insomniac Boss Says Resistance 4 Was The One That Got Away

The Resistance games were never among Sony's most popular franchises but they still have a special place in some players' hearts, especially those who remained ride-or-die through the tough early days of the PlayStation 3. And while 2011's Resistance 3 capped off the alternate sci-fi history about a WWII-style fight against alien invaders in the 1950s in a mostly satisfying fashion, die-hard fans have always pined for a sequel. Insomniac Games founder Ted Price recently said the studio wanted to make one too, but Sony wasn't onboard. 'We did pitch that one and it was a wonderful concept, and it just, in terms of timing and market opportunity, didn't work out,' the outgoing studio head said when talking about the unmade Resistance 4 in a new interview with Kinda Funny Games. The comments were made in the context of a conversation about how many games get cancelled or never even greenlit that people don't hear about. '[The pitch] was the result of a lot of Insomniac team members being passionate about extending the story further, because I do believe that Resistance has set up a really cool alternate history base where anything can happen with the Chimera and where they go and what their origins are,' Price said. While the Resistance games generally sold well, Price's mention of 'market opportunity' could be a reference to The Last of Us,which came out a few years after Resistance 3 in 2013. Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty previously reported that Sony was worried about overloading its portfolio with post-apocalyptic games, and declined to greenlight Resistance 4 because 'it sounded too similar to The Last of Us and they didn't want the two games overlapping with each other.' But that doesn't mean Resistance can't come back again in the future. While Price, who directed the first two Resistance games, is leaving the studio, Sony now owns the IP and, assuming Insomniac remains busy with its endless slate of upcoming Marvel spin-offs, could potentially farm it out to another studio, either internally or outside of PlayStation. Price seems hopeful that, one way or another, the series might still come back someday. 'Resistance 3 was intended to end that chapter of the Resistance franchise with the way that we ended with [recurring protagonist Joseph] Capelli and closed a lot of loops on various story items, and we wanted to do that so we would have more options in the future whether we were to go ahead with more Resistance games or take another turn,' Price said this week. 'When you work on a franchise for a long time, it's nice to have a chance to move on to something else and at the same time it's also nice to be able to come back to it. Fortunately, because we're part of Sony and Sony owns the intellectual property to Resistance, we will always have that opportunity to revisit Resistance and if it works out again, as a fan I'm going to be pretty excited.' At this point, many fans would probably settle for a simple remaster of the existing trilogy for modern platforms. Since the games released on PS3, the only way to play them on PS5 remains through cloud streaming as part of the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription tier. .
