Over 184M passwords from Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft exposed in massive leak
A recent discovery has exposed a vast number of passwords and sensitive data from major online platforms. Cybersecurity expert Jeremiah Fowler uncovered an unsecured database containing more than 184 million passwords along with email addresses and authorisation links online. The leaked information involved popular services such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Instagram, and Snapchat. The exposed data goes beyond just passwords. It includes login details for banks, financial institutions, health services, and government portals. Unlike typical databases that protect such information through encryption, this database was stored as a plain text file, making the information easily accessible to anyone who found it online, The Indian Express reported. Also read: Microsoft launches Xbox Copilot beta on Android app to assist gamers with real-time support Fowler's investigation suggests that the data may have been collected using infostealing malware. This type of malicious software, such as Lumma Stealer, collects usernames, passwords, credit card details, and other sensitive information from compromised systems. The stolen data is often sold on the dark web to cybercriminals. Upon finding the unsecured file, Fowler notified the hosting provider responsible for storing the database. The hosting company quickly restricted public access to the file, but it declined to provide information about the owner. To verify the authenticity of the leak, Fowler reached out to several individuals whose details appeared in the database. They confirmed that their credentials had indeed been exposed. Once cybercriminals access one account, they can exploit personal data for identity theft, fraud, and scams. The breach also included business accounts, which put company records and operations at risk. Threat actors could use such information to steal business data, conduct espionage, or launch ransomware attacks. The leak even contained login details for certain government services and private conversations. Multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security. Additionally, Google offers a free tool to check if your credentials have appeared in data leaks online. Users should remain vigilant and update their security practices to reduce the impact of such incidents.

Google Photos turns 10; Rolls out AI editor and smarter sharing via QR codes
Google Photos, a widely used cloud storage service for photos and videos, has launched a redesigned photo editor along with new AI-driven features. This update marks a significant milestone as the app reaches its 10th anniversary. The new tools and interface aim to simplify photo editing and bring advanced AI capabilities, previously limited to premium Pixel phones, to a broader user base. The updated editor introduces a streamlined layout that places all editing options within a single menu. Users can now tap on specific parts of a photo, such as the subject or background, and receive AI-generated suggestions tailored to that area. These suggestions help improve the selected section quickly without the need for manual adjustments. For full-image edits, the AI also offers combined effects to enhance photos in one step. Auto frame helps users crop images automatically for better composition. These tools join traditional manual controls like brightness and contrast in the editor. In addition to editing upgrades, Google has introduced a faster way to share albums with people nearby. Users can now create a QR code that others can scan to access the album directly. This method also allows invited users to contribute photos to the shared album. ChatGPT rival DeepSeek's R1 AI model gets a new update: Details here
DeepSeek has released an update to its R1 reasoning model, following Google's new series of announcements at I/O 2025, as the AI race keeps heating up globally and various tech giants release their own advanced models. This is the DeepSeek R1 0528 on the developer platform Hugging Face. The company, according to Reuters, did not make an official announcement this morning. Neither has the company put out a detailed description or comparison to its previous offerings. A DeepSeek official recently posted in a WeChat group that the company had completed a 'minor trial upgrade,' Bloomberg reported earlier. Also Read: PlayStation Days of Play Sale: Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarök, and more games get big price cuts DeepSeek came into limelight earlier this year in January when it launched its first model, R1. The tech community was questioning: how could a much smaller company like DeepSeek come up with powerful large language models such as the R1, while OpenAI had spent billions developing its own large language models? This resulted in Nvidia losing a huge chunk (at the time) of its market cap, after its share prices dropped. And it was revealed at the time that it had reportedly cost only $6 million for DeepSeek to develop, compared to the billions other companies had spent. DeepSeek R1 is also an open-source AI model, just like Meta's Llama large language model family, and excels at things like maths and reasoning. It should be noted that DeepSeek is a company based in Hangzhou, China. It was founded in July 2023, so it really hasn't been long since the company was created. The company released its first chatbot, the DeepSeek AI assistant, back in January this year on the Apple App Store, and it took the world by storm, also becoming the top free app after release. The company was founded by Liang Wenfeng. MOBILE FINDER: iPhone 16 LATEST Price, Specs And More
