St Gluvias CC announces 75th Anniversary Players' Reunion Evening

St Gluvias Cricket Club, Penryn, has announced that it will be holding a 75th Anniversary Players' Reunion Evening on Saturday, August 16, 2025. There will be some "live" entertainment and a buffet/barbecue – details to be finalised and announced nearer the date. An invitation is extended to everyone who has ever had any association with the club to come along for this party evening: it should be a great opportunity to catch up with some old friends. Organisers request that old players please spread the word about this event, as club officials do not have the contact details of many people they would like to welcome back to Kernick Road. PLAYERS NEEDED. The club would like to let everyone know that it has just about everything it needs, apart from enough regular players. There are some great hard-working volunteers, a well-equipped modern clubroom and bar, an attractive and well cared for ground with excellent pitches, good changing accommodation, two youth teams and AllStars/Dynamos cricket coaching, a welcome array of advertising sponsors, regular social activities (bingo, euchre, quizzes, karaoke, etc), inexpensive membership rates, and NO match fees. If you live in the Penryn area and want to be involved in a local club, it's a very pleasant place to be! However, though they should have plenty of youngsters filling the Saturday teams 2-3 years from now, many aren't quite old enough yet. Amongst the adults, when they are all playing, the 1st and 2nd XIs are very competitive, but they suffer from inconsistent availability. On a couple of occasions, the second team has bravely soldiered on with short numbers. If you are a former player or just not committing yourself as much as you could do at present, please spare a thought for the guys who are battling on without you: do you not feel you could help them out? Now is when this needs you, much more than when the club was winning leagues and cups! Perhaps you could even be an umpire or scorer. For more information or to ask about playing, please contact the Chairman, Mark Mitchell (07805 787858, mgmcornwall@ or the captain/secretary, Richard Bannister (07791 219656, bannybanny14@ We're also on Facebook (St Gluvias Cricket & Social Club).
