Deion Sanders Shoe Style Through the Years [PHOTOS]
In 2023, Deion Sanders, along with Allen Iverson and Derek Jeter, were the first trio of athletes to be inducted into The GQ Sports Style Hall of Fame—and for good reason. Sanders has been the definition of flashy and cool, bringing a blend of flyness, style and confidence that had yet to be seen in the NFL. From the dollar sign earrings the football star wore during Draft Day in 1989 to his own signature Nike sneaker in 1993, Sanders' influence on football expanded way beyond the field. His sense of style also shined through during games and inspired other players, while his penchant for sparkling jewelry—from stacked gold chains and bracelets to diamond rings—was passed down across the league and continues to be on full display with present day athletes. Sanders played in the NFL for 14 seasons, as well as an additional nine seasons of Major League Baseball with several teams. He won two Super Bowl titles and made one World Series appearance in 1992, making him the only athlete to play in a Super Bowl and a World Series. When he was playing both football and baseball for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves in 1992, Sanders also signed his first contract with Nike. He released his first signature sneaker—the Air Diamond Turf—the following year. The sneakers and cleats continue to be fan favorites and lauded as one of the best as far as design and style among athletes. He parted ways with Nike at one point and signed with Under Armour in 2009, before reuniting with Nike in 2023 when he became the University of Colorado's football head coach. Strictly and Call the Midwife stars to swim with sharks in new ITV show
The new reality show will see celebrities tasked with completing hair-raising challenges in shark infested waters ITV has announced the line up for its brand-new wildlife-meets-entertainment series SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters, and the casting is nearly as exciting as the show's premise. SHARK! is set to air this year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of arguably the most famous shark attack film of all time, Jaws. In the ITV reality series seven well-known figures, including Strictly Come Dancing's Ade Adepitan and Call the Midwife's Helen George, will dive headfirst into shark-infested waters in the Bahamas. Also joining the cast are Sir Lenny Henry, comedians Ross Noble and Lucy Punch, McFly bassist Dougie Poynter, and Countdown co-host Rachel Riley. Each celeb will be tasked with facing their fear of sharks through a series of adrenaline-filled challenges they will have to complete underwater. The series has been filmed on the island of Bimini, which is known as the shark capital of the world. Thankfully celebs will get the chance to slowly build up their shark tolerance by starting off with swimming alongside safer species, before progressing to hammerheads, bull sharks, and even the formidable tiger shark. The show is being produced by Plimsoll Productions, who hope to blend entertainment with a strong message about conservation. Alongside their nail-biting adventures, the celebs will also learn about the ecological importance of sharks, which play a critical part in keeping our oceans healthy. A synopsis for the ITV show teased: "The celebrities will confront their greatest fear – sharks. Their first-hand experiences will provide immeasurable excitement and new perspective; they'll come to appreciate sharks' valuable place in our ecosystem, recognising that a world without these creatures is more frightening than one with them." Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV, shared: "We're super excited to be combining the work of Plimsoll – a Blue Chip natural history production company – with the expertise of ITV Entertainment. SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime challenge for some of the bravest celebrities out there." As well as facing their fears underwater, the cast will be tasked with land-based challenges designed to push their physical and emotional boundaries, all while learning from leading marine experts about the threats sharks face in today's oceans.

Bimini, the island where the show will be filmed, is home to around seven to 10 different types of the fish including Caribbean reef sharks, great hammerhead sharks, bull sharks and tiger sharks. The celebrities will also take part in a series of challenges as they learn the importance of sharks to oceans' ecosystems. Karen Plumb, head of factual entertainment at production company Plimsoll Productions, said: 'The team at Plimsoll is uniquely positioned to pioneer this format that blends conservation with wildly entertaining pop culture. 'We're constantly looking for innovative approaches to wildlife storytelling and are certain that our fish-out-of-water spin – delivering 50 years after Jaws – will transform the world's perception of these critical predators before it's too late.' Sir Lenny, 66, who is known for sketch show The Lenny Henry Show, and sitcom Chef, has also been in fantasy series The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power, and taken part in ITV celebrity singing programme The Masked Singer. Riley, 39, has been on BBC competitions Strictly Come Dancing, Richard Osman's House Of Games and The Weakest Link. She has previously voiced support for Bite-Back, a shark and marine conservation charity. I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! winner Poynter, 37, has previously campaigned for action on plastics to protect oceans and wildlife. He has released the book Plastic Sucks! You Can Make A Difference, and used his Instagram account to criticise the use of shark fins in medicine, and soup. Call The Midwife star George, 40, said in a post on Instagram: 'One of the most insane experiences of my life, learning about these incredible creatures, with equally incredible humans.' Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning at ITV, said: 'We're super excited to be combining the work of Plimsoll – a blue chip natural history production company – with the expertise of ITV Entertainment. 'Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters promises to be a once in a lifetime challenge for some of the bravest celebrities out there.' Bite-Back's founder Graham Buckingham has previously said that Jaws is not a 'documentary', and pushed for the public to 'learn to see them (sharks) as awesome, fascinating and incredible creatures worthy of protection'. According to the Natural History Museum, shark attacks fell to the lowest level in more than three decades last year, with the International Shark Attack File saying that 47 people were hurt in 'unprovoked shark attacks' in 2024.
