'Communication will help to break down barriers as skeletons lurk'

There has been much talk this season, and the past few seasons, about changes needed at Leicester City. Many skeletons seem to be lurking in the Foxes' closet and, one by one, they are slowly being discovered, providing setback after setback in our quest to restabilise the I am never expectant of full disclosure of what has been going on behind the scenes, I do expect to have some sort of communication from the club about various significant include: the relegation to the Championship for the second time in three seasons; the departure of Jamie Vardy; the Ruud Van Nistelrooy-shaped elephant in the room; the financial constraints the club faces under PSR and what that means for future transfer I said, this does not mean full disclosure, but it does mean an acknowledgement the club is aware of issues and concerns of fans - and maybe even an acceptance of mistakes made, or a collective until now, a lot of blame has been placed at the door of John Rudkin, our director of football. But is this misplaced or misguided? Is the club accepting of one scapegoat?A little communication could go a long way to help placate the frustration of can be done. Plymouth Argyle's chairman has just issued a statement to fans - not with solutions, just with information and asking for patience. Open and honest - there is truth in that always being the best engagement should not be conditional - it should be par for the course of running a football club, where good PR and fan sentiment are strongly correlated. Communication will help to break down the barriers of 'us' and 'them' and pave the way to a united club and fanbase as we head into yet another unpredictable season both on and off the pitch.I do fear it may be business as usual, though, and the silence coming out of the club will be as deafening as some of the boos on more from Kate Blakemore at Leicester Till I Die, external

Arsenal hero Jack Wilshere named favourite to take Wayne Rooney's old job

Jack Wilshere has emerged as favourite to be the next Plymouth Argyle manager, following the departure of Miron Muslic. The Pilgrims were relegated from the Championship this season, finishing 23rd in the second tier, three points adrift of safety. Muslic could not save them from the drop but he did lead them to an unforgettable FA Cup win over Liverpool in one of the club's great days. The 42-year-old only joined Plymouth in January but he has now left the club, moving to Germany to take over Schalke. That has left a vacancy at Plymouth as they prepare for a return to League One and Wilshere has been installed as the favourite to fill it. Bet Victor are offering odds of just 1/3 (at the time of writing) that the 33-year-old will be Plymouth's next permanent manager, with the likes of David Wagner and Ian Evatt next in the betting at 4/1. Wilshere's coaching career so far has seen him take charge of Arsenal's Under-18 team, before moving to Norwich City in October 2024 as a first team coach. After the dismissal of Johannes Hoff Thorup in April, Wilshere stepped up to interim manager for the final two games of the Championship season, winning one and drawing the other. However, on May 24 it was announced that the England international midfielder would be leaving the Canaries by mutual agreement, with Bristol City boss Liam Manning expected to take over at Carrow Road. Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper said of Wilshere's exit: 'Jack made a big impact here in the time he was with us. He built great connections with our players and staff, and we're all sad to see him move on. 'We were all very grateful for him stepping in as our interim head coach for the final two games of the season, but we understand and respect his desire to further explore opportunities elsewhere. 'He leaves with our very best wishes and we'll follow his progress closely. I've no doubt he'll go on to have a very successful coaching career in the senior game.' Plymouth were promoted to the Championship in 2023 when they won League One and narrowly stayed up in 2024, finishing 21st. More Trending Wayne Rooney was given the job in May 2024 but lasted just 25 games in charge, winning only five of them. Muslic improved on that record, winning nine of his 23 matches at the helm, but ultimately fought a losing battle in trying to keep the Pilgrims up. On his departure for Schalke, Muslic said: 'My thanks go first to Plymouth Argyle, who made it possible for me to hold talks with FC Schalke 04, I'm very grateful to all those at Schalke for placing their trust in me. From the very first contact, we had open and honest discussions. 'Together with Frank Baumann, Youri Mulder, Ben Manga and Matthias Tillmann, we discussed in detail what Schalke are looking for and how I can contribute. We're determined to put that plan into action, and I'm ready to get to work with full conviction and passion.' Wayne Rooney and kids look terrified with only wife Coleen smiling as Man Utd legend, 39, takes family to Alton Towers

WAYNE ROONEY and his kids looked terrified on a day out at Alton Towers – but wife Coleen was SMILING on the rollercoasters. The Rooney clan enjoyed a fun trip to the Staffordshire theme park as they took advantage of the half term break. 4 4 Manchester United legend Wazza, 39, had a go on several thrilling rides. But despite his reputation as a football hardman, Rooney could only grimace as he whizzed round the tracks at lightning speed. Youngest children Kit, 9, and Cass, 7, also looked petrified as they soaked up the thrill-seeking atmosphere. However, Rooney's wife Coleen appeared right at home. The 39-year-old is still basking in the glory of her second-place finish in last year's edition of 'I'm a Celeb'. Coleen was forced to battle the likes of snakes, spiders and other gruesome creatures while in the Australian jungle. So riding a few simple rollercoasters will have been a walk in the park. And Coleen showed no signs of fear as she instead SMILED while sitting next to her distressed hubby. She posted the photos to her Instagram account, with a caption reading: 'Alton Towers is always a great half term trip. 'We had a fantastic time as always… thanks for looking after us.' Gary Lineker destroys Wayne Rooney's managerial career live on BBC leaving pundits speechless 4 4 Rooney will be hoping his time at Alton Towers helps him relax after another tense season in the dugout. After being sacked by Birmingham last year, he took up a role with newly-promoted Plymouth Argyle. But the Premier League icon managed just five wins from 25 matches and was sacked on New Year's Eve. Rooney was replaced by Miron Muslic, who was unable to save Argyle from relegation. However, he has now jumped ship for fallen German giants Schalke, with Jack Wilshere now favourite to take charge in Devon.

Ex-Arsenal star Jack Wilshere named as the favourite for vacant manager's job in League One - and he could follow in former Premier League rival's footsteps

Jack Wilshere is being tipped to continue his managerial career with Plymouth Argyle. The Pilgrims are looking for a new boss to lead them in League One next season following their recent relegation from the Championship. David Wagnet, Ian Evatt, Adin Osmanbasic, Des Buckingham and Jim Goodwin have all been touted as possible candidates. However, Wilshere is currently the odds-on favourite with bookmakers to land the job previously occupied by his former England team-mate Wayne Rooney. Rooney was in charge at Home Park from May last year until he was sacked on New Year's Eve after winning just five of his 25 games. He was replaced by Miron Muslic in January but the Austrian vacated the role to join Schalke last week. Muslic's decision to move on did not go down well among Plymouth chiefs and the club published a statement expressing frustration. It read: 'Argyle can confirm that we have reluctantly allowed Head Coach Miron Muslic to open talks with a 2. Bundesliga side after he expressed his desire to speak with the German team and not return to England. 'Despite regular communication since the end of the season, and no mention of any issues, Miron has now made it clear that, after extended periods away from his family, this opportunity provides him the chance to be closer to them after four years on the road. 'We are frustrated by this decision, having implemented clear structures, processes and personnel to aid Miron and his coaching staff as we look to return to the Sky Bet Championship at the earliest opportunity. 'Not only that, the club have also moved quickly to bring in new signings and received repeated verbal promises from Miron that he was committed to Argyle and would do everything to help the club bounce back to the second tier. 'Muslic joined the Greens in January 2025, on a three-and-a-half-year contract, after a period out of the game having departed Cercle Brugge. 'He will now leave Argyle just four months into that long-term commitment.' Wilshere has made no secret of his desire to forge a career in management. In July 2022, just four days after announcing his retirement as a player, Wilshere became the head coach of Arsenal's Under-18 side. Having led his Gunners side to the FA Youth Cup final in his first season, he departed north London in April to become the interim manager at Norwich City. Wilshere took charge of Norwich's final two games of the 2024-25 campaign and delivered two impressive results. He started with a creditable 0-0 draw away at Middlesbrough, a result that ended a run of three straight defeats. Norwich then ended the season by beating Cardiff City 4-2 in an entertaining finale.
