Motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV on Mass. highway
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with an SUV on Route 28 in Wareham Thursday afternoon, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. South Attleboro resident Matthew Burns, 49, was riding his motorcycle north in the area of 2309 Cranberry Hwy. when he lost control of his vehicle, according to witnesses, the district attorney's office said in a press release. He then veered into the southbound lane and was struck by a Mercedes SUV. Wareham and Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene and found Burns unresponsive, the district attorney's office said. Emergency responders tried to revive him, but he was soon declared dead. Burns was riding with four other motorcyclist when he crashed, the district attorney's office said. One of them had minor injuries resulting from the crash. State police interviewed the SUV driver at a local hospital where she was being treated following the crash, the district attorney's office said. She said she was driving south on the highway and noticed several motorcyclists riding in the opposite direction. During a bend in the road, one of the motorcyclists lost control of his vehicle, she told State Police, according to the district attorney's office. She said she could not avoid the crash. State Police are still investigating the crash. Scituate preschool teacher accused of physically assaulting several young students
A former preschool teacher in Scituate, Massachusetts was arraigned Wednesday for allegedly assaulting several young children at the school. Lilly Garofola, a 29-year-old from Hull, pleaded not guilty in Hingham District Court to four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and 12 counts of assault and battery, the Plymouth County district attorney said. Reports from parents and staff members District Attorney Tim Cruz said several parents and staff members from the Little Steps Learning Center approached police in the past several weeks with reports of "inappropriate physical contact" involving Garofola. According to the police report, one mother reported seeing red discoloration that could have been bruising on her child's collarbone and shoulder. Physical and verbal abuse accusations Between April and May, Garofola is accused of physically assaulting five children during school hours. Garofola allegedly pushed and slammed children to the ground and into seats and slammed them into tables, chairs and walls. According to the police report, she squeezed a child's face and screamed at them for whining and "violently" grabbed another child's wrists. Garofola is also accused of verbally abusing children at the school and screaming at them. Garofola was taken into custody in Scituate Wednesday morning. She was suspended from her job before resigning. On Wednesday, a judge set Garofola's bail at $1,000 with the condition that she have no contact with children under 16 and no contact with any witnesses in the case. The DA said most of the incidents were caught on surveillance video and the preschool is fully cooperating with the investigation. They're asking if any other families believe their children were assaulted by Garofola to call the Scituate Police Department at 781-545-1212.

Middleborough man charged with two life sentences after 2020 murder of his parents
A Middleborough man has been sentenced to two life sentences for the 2020 murder of his parents, the Plymouth County D.A. announced. Ryan True, 25, was convicted following a seven-day jury trial in Brockton Superior Court. He is ordered to serve the sentences consecutively without the possibility of parole. True was found guilty of a December 10 incident, when Middleborough police responded to 3 Highland Street for a well-being check, only to find the bodies of 52-year-old David True and 55-year-old Renee True.
