Rangers interested in Kwame Poku following Peterborough exit
Poku, who is a left-footed right-winger, was part of the side that defeated Birmingham at Wembley last season to retain the EFL Trophy. Having also made his debut for Ghana, Poku has been tracked by a number of English clubs for some time. However, a hamstring injury over the festive period last season prevented Peterborough from selling the player in January before the expiry of his contract. Peterborough would be entitled to a tribunal fee for the winger whom they paid Colchester United an initial £250,000 for at the age of 19. Peterborough recently confirmed that Poku would not sign a new deal with the club and move on from the London Road stadium this summer. Darragh MacAnthony, Peterborough's chairman, said: "Kwame probably won't go to the Premier League straight away, but he will get a high-end Championship club. He will be a Premier League star in the future and that next move will probably cost £30 million.'

Rangers ‘tracking future £30million Premier League star' as several clubs eye 20 goal contribution winger
He'd be available for next to nothing RANGERS are reportedly interested in an out-of-contract English League One star. A right-winger with a proven ability to contribute goals and assists, he could be the ideal replacement for Vaclav Cerny after the club were unable to strike a permanent deal for the loan star. Advertisement 2 Rangers are reportedly eyeing Peterborough winger Kwame Poku Credit: Getty 2 He made League One Team of the Season and lifted the EFL Trophy last season Credit: Getty Several clubs are eyeing Peterborough's Kwame Poku alongside the Gers, say the Rangers Review. He notched 12 goals and eight assists in 27 league matches last season and lifted the EFL Trophy at Wembley. The 23-year-old is a one time cap for the Ghanaian national team, but that was back in 2021. An injury to Poku just before the turn of the year prevented selling him for a fee in January before he reached the end of his deal. Advertisement Now he can be swooped up for a fairly nominal tribunal fee as he joined the Posh when he was a teenager. The club have already confirmed that the man who made the 2024-25 League One Team of the Season won't be signing an extended contract with them. Chairman Darragh MacAnthony said on his podcast: "Kwame probably won't go to the Premier League straight away, but he will get a high-end Championship club. "He will be a Premier League star in the future and that next move will probably cost £30 million.' Advertisement Poku's agent also deals with former Gers and current Manchester United star Amad and his teammate Alejandro Garnacho. With new manager Russell Martin appointed on a three-year deal at Ibrox last week and fresh sporting director Kevin Thelwell also coming in the door, the side have been linked with a number of players. SunSport reporters clash over Russell Martin as he's revealed as new Rangers boss It was today reported that prolific Croatian striker Matija Frigan is on the watchlist, but he's also being tracked by clubs in Germany and Spain. Another target to help strengthen the frontline was Israel striker Dor Turgeman but reports suggest the Glasgow team have been told to 'significantly increase' their rejected offer of £4million. Advertisement Previous England international and star of Leicester, Wolves and Everton Conor Coady is a big name who has been linked with a Govan move. And Martin has received no favours from his old club Southampton, as a massive £10million price tag has been slapped on midfielder Flynn Downes who's said to be a priority. Rangers transfer news as Russell Martin 'eyes' ambitious Ramsdale reunion and Poku interest escalates
The Light Blues are expected to overhaul their squad this summer under the new regime Rangers have reportedly 'entered the race' for Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale - as they register their interest in Peterborough winger Kwame Poku. New Ibrox boss Russell Martin took Ramsdale to St Mary's from Arsenal last summer in a £25million deal but it ended in disappointment with Saints relegated from the English Premier League and Martin sacked. But it's now claimed that the Light Blues boss is keen on a reunion with the 27-year-old England man, although West Ham United and Leeds United are leading the race. Sportsboom say: 'Ramsdale would represent a real statement of intent' for new Rangers owners 49ers Enterprises,' but add of the manager-player relationship, 'the pair remain on good terms and would welcome the chance of working together again in the future.' There are question marks over the goalkeeping situation at Rangers with Jack Butland dropped by caretaker boss Barry Ferguson following loss of form with Liam Kelly coming in between the sticks. Butland was then given the last couple of games but the former England man's future at Ibrox is still in doubt. Rangers Review also report that Posh winger Poku is another the Ibrox side are keen on with the 23-year-old out of contract at the League One side, although they would be entitled to compensation for the player they signed from Cambridge United at the age of 19. The right winger is seen as a potential replacement for Vaclav Cerny who returned to Wolfsburg after a loan spell. Poku is also wanted by Birmingham City and has admirers in Germany and France. Meanwhile, Ianis Hagi revealed he was in talks with clubs interested in him during his final six months at Rangers. And he's confirmed he has refused an offer from Steaua Bucharest to return to his Romanian homeland. The son of former Real Madrid and Barcelona legend Gheorghe is currently injured and was released by the Ibrox club at the end of the season. Despite being linked with moves to Borussia Monchengladbach and Genoa, the only official offer to come his way was one to return to Romanian football to sign with Steaua Bucharest. But he admitted he's been weighing up proposals for some time. Hagi said: "I'm still looking at my options and offers. In fact, when I was in the last six months of my contract at Rangers, there were contacts, talks and conversations with different teams, it's normal. "I thank everyone who talked about me and was interested in Romania but my decision is to stay abroad. I just hope I'm inspired to make the best decision for my future."

Rangers suffer transfer blow with free-spending EFL outfit 'pushing' to sign long-term target
Rangers have been linked with the exciting forward since last year. Sign up to our Football newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... Rangers could be set to suffer an early transfer blow ahead of the summer window reopening next month, with reports that a big-spending EFL club are 'pushing hard' to sign one of their long-term targets. The Ibrox giants have been credited with an interest in Peterborough United attacker Kwame Poku, with scouts from the club in attendance as the 23-year-old scored a hat-trick in a 6-1 win over Cambridge United back in November, though he has also been linked with Stoke City, Millwall and Southampton. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The Ghanaian international had an injury-hit campaign, but still managed to score 12 goals and assist a further eight this season as the Posh escaped relegation from EFL League One. Poku will play his football elsewhere next season though, with the club confirming he will depart London Road this summer when his contract comes to an end next month, alongside highly-rated teammates Hector Kyprianou and Ricky-Jade Jones. A statement on the club website said: "The club held discussions with all three about extending their stays in PE2 but they indicated they wanted to move on and they leave with our thanks for their efforts over their time at the club." It would mean Rangers would be more likely to be able to sign him for a 'minimal' compensation fee, unlike interested English clubs who could be forced to pay a much higher development fee, which has been estimated at around £6million by Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad However, fresh reports this morning indicate that Rangers may be blown out of the water by free-spending Birmingham City, who are looking to mount an ambitious bid for a second promotion following their record breaking 111 point title win in the EFL League One this season. According to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, the EFL Championship-bound Blues are 'pushing hard' to get a deal over the line for Poku. Reports state the they are prepared to offer him £30,000 a week in order to join, while it is also claimed that the two clubs are looking to avoid a tribunal in order to determine the transfer fee, with MacAnthony already admitting: 'We'll start talking to those clubs because they won't want to go to a tribunal as much as we do. It's unpredictable and it will go in our favour in a big way. "The problem with tribunals is that they have to pay all the money up front. You get told [what to pay]. We also have other things that are happening as well. We will try and still do business, we want to sell and bring money in but I'd sell my wedding ring to sign the right player.'
