New fallout from Cleveland fire station closed due to mold concerns: I-Team

***Watch previous coverage above.*** CLEVELAND (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team has learned the city of Cleveland safety director will have to appear before the council public safety committee to answer hard questions about the poor conditions of many city fire and police buildings. This follows Cleveland Fire Station 30 being closed due to concerns about mold. Councilman Michael Polensek wrote to the safety director, 'You heard me say that four out of the five Police District buildings are an embarrassment and possibly unsafe. I don't have to tell you about the condition of the fire houses/EMS units throughout the city, as well. For, it is Engine Company No. 30 today. However, what will it be tomorrow…' 'I would die for my animals': Owner of raccoon found with meth pipes speaks out The councilman also wrote, 'This lunacy must come to an end. We must protect our First Responders and the environment in which they must work out of.' Earlier this week, first responders at Station 30 were moved to other fire stations. 'Due to reports of mold in Station 30, our members have been relocated to other stations in the area until the appropriate testing and remediation can occur,' said Jake Konys, president of firefighters union Local 93. Fire Station 30 sits at East 102nd and St. Clair Avenue with emergency crews based there covering parts of the northeast side of the city. What the NTSB has learned about Monday's fatal plane crash in Ashland County We've learned firefighters there have had issues with leaks, and this past weekend they noticed more leaks and a mildew smell. City spokesman Tyler Sinclair wrote in an email, 'The City's Property Management Team just became aware of the issue today. They immediately contacted our hazmat contractor and directed them to test the building. Next steps will be decided based on the results of that assessment. In the meantime, the Division of Fire Command Staff created an operational plan – which accounts for contingencies like this – that optimizes the placement of both personnel and equipment so that no services will be impacted. Councilmen Kevin Conwell and Anthony Hairston have also raised concerns about response times to emergencies now in the area normally covered by crews from Station 30.' Iqbal was held late on Friday after he got off a train from Odisha's Jagdalpur. "Both the accused fled to other states after committing the crime. The investigation gained momentum after the arrest of chief conspirator Ziaul from Chopra in North Dinajpur. This led to the identification of other key suspects, including Ajfarul Sheikh and Monirul Sheikh, who were held subsequently.

Baruipur police dismiss Suvendu Adhikari's claim of ‘suspicious' device installation by alleged Kashmiris

Kolkata The Baruipur police on Thursday (April 24, 2025) refuted allegations made by Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, regarding the presence of two alleged Kashmiri men in the Baruipur area and the installation of what he described as a 'high-performance wireless network bridge' on the rooftop of their residence. Mr. Adhikari, in a social media post earlier in the day, claimed that the individuals had installed a NanoBeam 2AC device, a compact wireless bridge used for long-distance internet connectivity. He also shared their residential address and expressed concerns over the device, suggesting it could be of suspicious nature. Mr. Palash Chandra Dhali (IPS); Superintendent Of Police; Baruipur Police District, firstly I appreciate that you were prompt enough to respond after my X Post regarding two individuals staying at Baruipur. I listened to the Press Conference where you were providing updates… — Suvendu Adhikari (@SuvenduWB) April 24, 2025 The police, following verification, stated that the individuals in question were not from Jammu and Kashmir but from Madhya Pradesh and had been residing in a rented accommodation in Baruipur for the past year. The device in question, officials said, was a standard JioFiber internet router and no suspicious materials or activities were found during inspection. 'It is unfortunate that certain individuals choose to disseminate inaccurate and potentially inciteful information via social media, instead of alerting appropriate State or Central agencies,' the Baruipur police said in a statement posted online. The statement further urged citizens not to share unverified information on social media and warned that 'public insinuation against any individual without verifying the facts is legally punishable.' Speaking to the media, Palash Chandra Dhali, Superintendent of Police, Baruipur, said that both individuals had come to Kolkata around a year ago. 'One is a civil engineer and the other a computer engineer. They are in the city to start a business. The device they installed was solely for internet access,' Mr. Dhali said. The development comes at a time when several incidents of alleged harassment and targeting of Kashmiri residents have been reported across different parts of the country, following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22 that claimed the lives of over 26 tourists, including three from West Bengal. Later in the day, Mr. Adhikari issued a counter-response on social media, stating that if the police were confident about the individuals' identities and intentions, their details should be made public. 'Since you are willing to give a clean chit to them, why didn't you make them attend the press conference and reveal their identities so that the public would be assured and suspicions could be laid to rest?' he wrote. The police have not responded further to Mr. Adhikari's remarks at the time of publication.
