Shivamogga
Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa responded to many grievances raised by the public during the Janaspandana programme, organised by the Shivamogga district administration at Hosanagar on Monday.
The grievances included a demand for the sanction of borewells for agricultural purposes, a plea to rectify the ration card in which the name of an old woman had been removed erroneously, problems in power supply, the delay in the grant of land, the release of a pension meant for the physically challenged, among others.
Parvathamma, 80, a resident of Malavalli in Hosanagar taluk, complained to the Minister that her name had been removed from the ration card, citing that she had died. She had been denied foodgrains and other benefits. The Minister wondered how the officers could delete the names without verifying the facts. He ordered the officers to rectify the mistake and ensure the woman gets the benefits. He also instructed the officers to take action against the officers responsible for the lapse.
Ganapathi B. of Talagadde village complained that the government sanctioned him a borewell under the Ganga Kalyana scheme way back in 2023. However, the borewell had not been drilled so far. Ranganath, a resident of Hosanagara town, complained about the disruption in power supply at Ward 6 in the town.
Teekappa Yoga Nayak of Kerekoppa said that his family had been cultivating a piece of land at survey number 79 in the village since the days of his grandfather. However, he had not got the land granted. He urged the Minister to get it granted to his family. Srinivas, also from Kerekoppa, said that he lost one hand after he fell from the roof of his house a few years ago. As he could not work normally, he wanted the government to sanction his pension meant for the physically challenged.
Mr. Madhu Bangarappa, who is also the Minister in charge of the district, took the complaints and referred them to the officers concerned. He instructed the officers to resolve the complaints as early as possible.
He said that such public meetings would help in finding solutions to many problems being faced by the public. The administration would hold similar meetings in all taluks, he said.
MLA for Sagar Belur Gopalakrishna, Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegade, Superintendent of Police G.K. Mithun Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Siddalinga Reddy, zilla panchayat deputy secretary Jayalakshmi, Deputy Conservator of Forest D. Mohan Kumar, and others were present at the meeting.
