IGP takes notice of triple murder case
LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, has taken notice of the incident in which three individuals, including a woman, were killed in a firing incident in the Bhakkar Mills Town area and sought a report from RPO Sargodha. IG Punjab has directed DPO Bhakkar to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the firing. He said that all available resources should be utilised to arrest those involved in the triple murder and that providing justice to the bereaved families must be ensured on a priority basis. DPO Bhakkar said that teams have been formed for the arrest of the suspects, and they will be apprehended soon. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Over 4,000 deported from Punjab

PHOTO: AFP At least 4,111 individuals have been deported from Punjab, including Lahore, as part of a coordinated effort by local authorities to address illegal immigration. A spokesperson for the Punjab Police reported that over 5,950 illegal immigrants have been transferred to holding centres, while 1,839 remain at these facilities. Currently, there are 46 holding centres established across the province, including five located in Lahore. Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar emphasised that all illegal immigrants will be sent back without exception. He stated that security measures are heightened during the evacuation process and that human rights are being strictly observed throughout the operation. Dr Usman Anwar has directed the City Chief Police Officer (CCPO) of Lahore, Regional Police Officers (RPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs) to expedite the evacuation process for illegal immigrants. He also highlighted the importance of mapping, scanning, and screening these individuals according to established procedures to ensure a systematic approach to the operation. This crackdown on illegal immigration reflects the provincial government's commitment to maintaining law and order while also ensuring the protection of human rights during the enforcement of these measures.
