Stevie Nicks united with this Grateful Dead legend at the Pollstar Awards
Two of the Bay Area's biggest music stars converged last week, making for a rare appearance together. Former Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks and Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir posed for a photo with Weir's Dead & Company bandmate John Mayer while backstage during the 36th annual Pollstar Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 16. 'The 2025 Pollstar Awards brought legends together,' the post, shared by the concert and live music data company on Saturday, April 19, read. 'Moments like these are pure magic.' In the photo, Nicks, wearing a long simple black dress and a stack of necklaces, is standing between the two bandmates while leaning on Mayer's shoulder. The image, posted to Pollstar's official Instagram account over the weekend, has since garnered more than 1,500 likes and dozens of fan comments. During the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton, Nicks announced that she is working on her first new album in 14 years, which she's currently referring to as a 'ghost record.' 'I have seven songs, and they are autobiographical real stories,' she said during the ceremony. 'I'm not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life. They are not airy-fairy songs. … They're real stories of memories of mine of fantastic men.' Nicks, who is scheduled to return to the Bay Area in October for a co-headlining concert with Billy Joel at Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium (not far from San Jose State University, which she briefly attended in the late 1960s), isn't the only musician that Weir has hung out with recently. In February, the San Francisco native posed for photos with pop star Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards, putting their opposing football loyalties aside. Swift is a loyal fan of her boyfriend Travis Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs, while Weir is a longtime fan of the San Francisco 49ers. Since 1989, a specially selected group of industry professionals consider nominations for the Pollstar Awards, which recognize trailblazers in the live music industry. This year, honorees included stars such as Swift, Bad Bunny and Bruce Springsteen. Weir and Mayer received the award for residency of the year for their recent shows with Dead & Company on Wednesday, while Nicks was inducted into Pollstar's Live Hall of Fame for her solo work and her Fleetwood Mac legacy.

Stevie Nicks working on ‘autobiographical' album inspired by Prince and other ‘fantastic men' she's known
Stevie Nicks is continuing to leave Fleetwood Mac in her (gold) dust with a newly announced solo album. The music legend was on hand at the Pollstar Awards earlier this week, where she was entered into the Hall of Fame. During her speech, she mentioned that she's making a new 'autobiographical' record and already has seven songs. Calling it 'the ghost record,' Nicks said it 'just kinda happened in the last couple weeks' while she was 'sitting in a hotel for 92 days' as a result of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles in January. 'I feel like I'm on the road, but there's no shows,' she described, which led her to think, 'You need to go back to work.' 'And I did, and I have seven songs, and they are autobiographical, real stories where I'm not pulling any punches, for probably the first time in my life. They are not airy, fairy songs that you are wondering who they're about, but you don't really get it. They're real stories of memories of mine of fantastic men,' she said. The 'Landslide' songstress went onto tease the crowd with one of those stories, involving the late and great Prince, who she identified as a friend. Nicks recounted how she attended the premiere of the iconic film 'Purple Rain' in the '80s, and how she only watched the first half of the movie up until a moment when Prince's character slapped Apollonia. Afterward, she explained that she went to the premiere's afterparty across the street, where Prince asked her what she thought of the film. She sheepishly told him she only saw the first half, but as consolation, offered him the gift she had brought for him – a 24 karat necklace with gold hearts on it. Prince told her that he didn't want the necklace, going on to say, 'You always bring me a gift, you never bring me you.' Nicks said that that line was the launch point for her new record. The artist has, to date, released eight solo studio albums in addition to the eight albums she produced with Fleetwood Mac, among other projects. She is an eight-time Grammy winner twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, according to Rolling Stone.

Stevie Nicks is ‘not pulling any punches' on her new album
Stevie Nicks is at work on a new album filled with 'memories of mine of fantastic men.' 'I have seven songs, and they are autobiographical real stories where I'm not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life,' the 76-year-old rock icon said. 'They are not airy, fairy songs that you are wondering who they are about but you don't really get it.' Nicks shared details about the upcoming LP — her first collection of new songs in nearly a decade and a half — in a speech Wednesday night at the Pollstar Awards, a live-music industry event at the Beverly Hilton where she was inducted into the trade magazine's hall of fame. The Fleetwood Mac singer and songwriter said she's calling the album 'The Ghost Record' because it grew out of the recent Los Angeles wildfires. 'I was sitting in a hotel for 92 days,' she told the audience of music-biz insiders, 'and at some point during that last part of the 92 days, I said, 'You know what? I feel like I'm on the road, but there's no shows. I'm just sitting here by myself because everybody else is at the house doing all the remediations and everything, and it's just me sitting here.' And I thought: You need to go back to work. And I did.' (Nicks spoke at January's FireAid benefit concert about firefighters saving her nearly century-old home in Pacific Palisades.) Nicks announced Monday that she'll tour this year starting in August, alternating solo dates and gigs with Billy Joel, with whom she played Inglewood's SoFi Stadium in 2023. Her most recent LP was 2014's '24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault,' which offered new recordings of orphaned tunes she'd written as long ago as 1969; 'In Your Dreams,' her last album of originals, came out in 2011. Last year she released a single called 'The Lighthouse' that she wrote about the Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade. After touring with Fleetwood Mac minus Lindsey Buckingham in 2018 and 2019, Nicks has expressed doubt that the band will play again following Christine McVie's death in 2022.

New Pornographers Drummer Joe Seiders Arrested For Possession of Child Porn
Joe Seiders, the drummer for indie rock band the New Pornographers, has been arrested on possession of child pornography charges, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department confirmed in a press release Thursday. Soon after the arrest, the band confirmed that Seiders, 44, is no longer a member of the group. 'Everyone in the band is absolutely devastated by the news of the charges against Joe Seiders — and we have immediately severed all ties with him,' the band said in a statement shared on social media. 'Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by his actions.' According to the Sheriff's Department, authorities were first dispatched to a Palm Desert business in the late afternoon on April 7th, speaking with an 11-year-old boy who said an unidentified male had recorded him on his cell phone while the boy was using the restroom. Two days later, authorities got a second report at the same location at just past 5 p.m., after an employee said that a man was 'entering and exiting the restroom with juvenile males at the business.' Authorities identified the man as Seiders and took him into custody. Authorities obtained search warrants for Seiders' residence, cell phone and vehicle and found evidence implicating him in the two reported incidents, as well as other crimes, the release said. Authorities said Seiders was booked into Indio's John Benoit Detention Center for possession of child pornography, annoying/molesting a child, invasion of privacy, and attempted invasion of privacy.
