Friday Music Guide: New Music From Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Tate McRae and More

Billboard's Friday Music Guide serves as a handy guide to this Friday's most essential releases — the key music that everyone will be talking about today, and that will be dominating playlists this weekend and beyond. This week, Miley Cyrus finds new pop beauty, Lorde upends expectations and Tate McRae revs up for F1. Check out all of this week's picks below: More from Billboard The Amity Affliction Cover Turnstile's 'Holiday' for 'Like a Version' Mariah Carey Celebrates 20 Years of 'The Emancipation of Mimi': Stream It Now Miley Cyrus' New Album 'Something Beautiful' This Way Comes: Stream It Now Miley Cyrus, Drawing upon classic pop influences while also letting her freak flag fly, Miley Cyrus offers a singular accomplishment on Something Beautiful — moving on from 2023's Endless Summer Vacation, which included the biggest hit of her career in 'Flowers,' with her most satisfying front-to-back listen to date, unbothered with trying to recreate radio success but still finding revealing hooks along the way. Lorde, 'Man of the Year' In the past, Lorde has liked to preview a new album with an uptempo lead single and a ballad-leaning follow-up — think Melodrama with 'Green Light' and 'Liability,' or Solar Power with the title track and 'Stoned at the Nail Salon' — but 'Man of the Year,' which comes after the fleet-footed 'What Was That,' is actually a red herring, starting off as a sparse reflection over bass plucks but then widening its stance, and ending with a fuzzed-out boom. Tate McRae, 'Just Keep Watching' Continuing a year in which she's leveled up as a pop star — as well as a week where she earned her first career Hot 100 chart-topper, alongside Morgan Wallen on 'What I Want' — Tate McRae hops into the F1 soundtrack mobile with 'Just Keep Watching,' a fast-moving club track with the type of quick-twitch percussion that could inspire more kinetic choreography if McRae incorporates the song into her live show. Leon Thomas, 'MUTT' may have marked Leon Thomas' arrival as a compelling new voice in popular R&B, its host album of the same name was just as sumptuous as its standout hit; now, MUTT contains even more acrobatic vocal takes by Thomas on its deluxe edition, which includes team-ups with Kehlani and Big Sean, as well as engrossing new solo cuts like 'HEEL' and 'NOT FAIR.' Mt. Joy, The 2020s have seen indie rock quintet Mt. Joy continuously graduate to bigger touring venues, culminating in a Madison Square Garden headlining gig on their last live trek — and instead of simply acting as another excuse for the group to hit the road, new album Hope We Have Fun translates the band's live energy to the studio, with songs like 'Highway Queen' and 'Pink Lady' jangling forward with blissed-out style. Clipse, 'Ace Trumpets' In the 2000s, Virginia hip-hop duo Clipse would regularly release Pharrell Williams-produced bangers that made their listeners scrunch up their noses in delight; then, Malice quit music to explore religion, and his brother Pusha T moved on to solo stardom. Now, Clipse (and Pharrell) are back, recapturing the magic on 'Ace Trumpets,' the head-knocking first track from long-awaited new album, Let God Sort Em Out. Ava Max, 'Lovin Myself' Across pop hits like 'Sweet But Psycho,' 'My Head & My Heart' and 'Kings & Queens,' Ava Max has prioritized electro-pop fun while offering a streak of self-empowerment; new single 'Lovin Myself' doubles down on the second half of that equation, with the singer declaring, 'I don't need nobody, I'm lovin' myself!' as warm synths rain down on her voice. Editor's Pick: Yeule, If Yeule's 2022 album Glitch Princess was their critical breakthrough, Evangelic Girl is a Gun is the first time we receive a full glimpse of the daring singer-songwriter: the hyperpop from years past has morphed into trip-hop, alt-rock and affecting balladry, but across the most vulnerable lyricism of Yeule's career, they still toss out mesmerizing pop ideas, as their song craft serves as a foundation for their roaming spirit. Best of Billboard Chart Rewind: In 1989, New Kids on the Block Were 'Hangin' Tough' at No. 1 Janet Jackson's Biggest Billboard Hot 100 Hits H.E.R. & Chris Brown 'Come Through' to No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Ava Max Says She's ‘Lovin' Myself' On New Single

Ava Max Pop star Ava Max has been teasing her forthcoming third studio album Don't Click Play for more than a year, given tastes of where she's headed musically with singles like the one-off 'Spot a Fake' last year and 'Lost Your Faith' in February. Her latest single, the empowering 'Lovin' Myself,' arrives as the weather is heating up and music fans are looking for some feel-good music. Max recruited producer Pink Slip, known for Katseye's viral hit 'Gnarly,' to bring the self-love anthem to life. 'Heartbreak survivor, feelin' lighter / I'm sweepin' myself off of my feet / Woke up on fire, shinin' brighter / Like I could build the world around me,' she sings on the track. 'I don't need nobody, I'm lovin' myself / Tonight it's all about me, it's good for my health / And I know how to please me, I don't need no help / Nobody, nobody can love me like I'm lovin' myself.' While working on her next project, Max has been able to enjoy creative control over her output. 'I'm very blessed right now to be in a place where I can do whatever I want," she told Audacy in December. "I'm at a place where I can just put out music anytime I want, which I'm very excited about. Don't expect all upbeat pop songs on her next LP, however. '[I] had time to reset and figure out what I really wanted for this next album. I didn't want to just put an album together and put it out," she said. "[It] has slower songs, some pop, rock, [and] country records that the fans have never heard from me. And a couple of records that I think are the best records I've ever made in my entire life, which I'm very excited about that for people to hear.' Don't Click Play is out Aug. 22.

Kylie Minogue looks ethereal in pale pink gown as she raises a glass to celebrate her 57th birthday and the fifth anniversary of her wine brand at private members club in London

Kylie Minogue pulled out all the stops on Wednesday night to celebrate both her birthday and a major milestone for her wine brand at a London private members club. The Princess of Pop looked as thought she hadn't aged a day from when she first shot to fame in Neighbours in 1986, as she rang in her 57th birthday and marked the fifth anniversary of her business, Kylie Minogue Wines. To commemorate the special occasion, Kylie unveiled a limited-edition Côtes de Provence rosé bottle, crafted especially for the anniversary. Coordinating her outfit to match the rosé, the singer cut a radiant figure in a floaty pale pink gown adorned with an organza flower and sparkling piping at the neckline. And Kylie didn't resist letting her hair down as she celebrated two momentous occasions, taking to the dance floor to show off her moves. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. While she capped off the celebrations by joining friend and collaborator, The Blessed Madonna, in the DJ booth. Kylie took to the mike, to perform a surprise rendition of their hit, Edge of Saturday Night and remix, Can't Get Blue Monday out of My Head', for the lucky guests. The Spinning Around hitmaker launched Kylie Minogue Wines in 2020 on her 52nd birthday, with the brand having now sold over 20 million bottles globally. She first released a southern French rosé made from a blend of 80 per cent Carignan and 20 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon from the southern French coast. The salmon pink Vin de France rosé was kept on its lees for three months in stainless steel for added complexity. In an exclusive interview with The Drinks Business, Kylie revealed that drinking Provence rosé during sweltering nights in Nashville while recording her 14th album, Golden, is what inspired her to want to make her own. She told the publication: 'It was exceptionally hot and humid that summer, and it was an exciting time, being in Nashville and writing songs with no distractions.' 'While dining outdoors one night, my manager Polly and I were drinking Whispering Angel to cool down from the heat, which got me thinking how great it would be to have my own rosé.' 'I love pale pink rosés and all the associations of the Mediterranean that go with them.' Keen to be involved in all stages of the production process, Kylie chose the wine's long-necked, bell-shaped bottle finished with a pearlescent capsule. She also designed the label featuring her name repeated in relief and her signature in black in the centre. The Padam Padam chart-topper later launched a lees-aged Sauvignon Blanc from Gascony and a Pays d'Oc Merlot. While in November, a drinks industry source revealed that her prosecco had become hugely successful, saying: 'The prosecco has been a massive seller for Kylie. 'It is a good quality product - just as you'd expect from someone like Kylie – and it is very drinkable.' 'She wouldn't have put her name to an inferior product and she's reaping the rewards of a successful brand.' Showing her packed and busy schedule, Kylie's night of celebrations came just a day after she took to the stage for the first of four nights at London's O2 for her Tension Tour on Tuesday. Speaking to The Sun after the performance ended, the Australian star told how her Tension Tour almost didn't happen. She said: 'It's been a lot of work and we almost didn't get there, but it's great.' Asked if she watches her performances back, Kylie added: 'I don't watch it on YouTube, but I do see it on socials and that way, sometimes with a phone, the angle is weird or the colours are off, but it gives you another perspective.' On her love of performing, she said: 'My love for doing this only grows and grows. Thank you for understanding and being there for me on my journey. For me, it began in a mystical time known as the Eighties.' Kylie's Tension Tour is split into five acts with the star kicking things off with her 2024 single Lights Camera Action before going into other hits like In Your Eyes, Get Outta My Way and Spinning Around. Later in the show, Kylie performed some of her earlier hits including Better The Devil You Know and The Locomotion. The final act features some of her most-loved hits including Padam Padam, Can't Get You Outta My Head and All The Lovers before an encore featuring Tension and Love At First Sight. The star is the highest-selling Australian female artist of all time and the third best-selling in the UK, but has only now begun to make a name for herself in the US following the success of her viral 2023 hit Padam Padam.

Biggest hint yet that Spice Girls will reunite as Geri Halliwell drops huge clue feud with Mel B is over

GERI Halliwell-Horner may have just lifted the lid on the news Spice Girls fans have waited for, and that the girl group is reuniting. The pop star took to Instagram to wish her fellow Spice Girl, Melanie Brown, a happy birthday. 4 4 "Happy 50th birthday @officialmelb wishing you a very wonderful year ahead," Geri captioned the post, alongside a vintage photo of the pair in their Spice Girls heyday. Rumors have been circulating for months that the Spice Girls are planning a reunion tour, and Geri's post seems to show the rift between her and Mel B may be healed. The pair have had a tumultuous relationship over the years, including last year when Mel B jokingly wished Geri a "happy 75th birthday," with unflattering photos of her to Instagram. Mel B's post was likely poking fun at rumors that went around during the Spice Girls that Geri had lied abotu her age and was in fact, much older than she'd admitted. Geri was also unhappy with Mel B when the latter revealed the pair had hooked up early in the Spice Girls career. She told Piers Morgan's Life Stories in 2019: 'We were best friends. It just happened. Have you ever done that?' Geri had previously she "didn't like the lesbian thing," on an interview with Howard Stern. Speaking to the US shock jock DJ back in the 90s, Geri decided against naming Mel and simply said her lesbian experience was with "a famous woman". She said: 'I had lesbian sex once. I realised quickly I was not a lesbian. I don't mind boobs but the other bit is not my cup of tea. 'I didn't like the lesbian thing. It is part of experimenting. I was drunk at the time.' Spice Girls set for 2026 global reunion tour – But will Victoria Beckham join? The pair did reunite last year to celebrate their fellow Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday, where the entire group came together to recreate the iconic dance from their song, Stop. As for a potential Spice Girls reunion, their bandmate, Melanie Chisholm, gave an update on its likelihood. The Sun told earlier this month how they are planning a massive tour in 2026 to celebrate 30 years since debut single Wannabe was released. Mel C revealed certain members have needed more 'convincing' than others, with Victoria Beckham currently not set to take part. She is expected to keep out of it just like she did with their sell-out 2019 reunion tour, but Geri Halliwell-Horner has also needed some persuading, which is why she is meeting with the band's manager Simon Fuller in Miami. Speaking on the No Filter with Kate Langbroek podcast, Mel C said: 'Next year is a big year for us and we have to acknowledge it in some way. 'So we are talking about what that's going to look like and for me, Melanie, I know for sure, and Emma [Bunton], we'd be back on stage. But sometimes other people need a little bit more convincing.' 4 4
