Ravi Mohan and SJ Suryah team up for Karthik Yogi's Bro Code

Actor Ravi Mohan will be teaming up with Dikkiloona and Vadakkupatti Ramasamy director Karthik Yogi in a forthcoming film, titled Bro Code. Speaking to us exclusively, Karthik refers to his next film, also starring SJ Suryah, as a "pan-Indian action comedy". 'SJ Suryah's character will be likeable and equally important to Ravi anna' Stating that Bro Code will explore a new shade of SJ Suryah, Karthik remarks, 'SJ Suryah's character will be positive, likeable, and equally important to Ravi anna. They were both my first choices for the film. Their combination felt exciting even while I was writing. When I narrated the story to Ravi anna, I did so by mimicking SJ Suryah so that he would get the feel of how it would be when SJ Suryah comes on board. I knew he would be the right fit for the role. He was a bit busy, but he managed to give us dates in between all his other commitments.' 'Ravi anna and I have been waiting for the right time to come together' Interestingly, Bro Code will mark Ravi Mohan's first outing as a producer. 'Ravi anna heard the story, liked it, and said, 'Rather than someone else producing it, I will do it myself.' I have known him for several years; he was supposed to do my first film. We both have been waiting for the right time to come together,' shares the filmmaker. 'If you take Animal, Kabir Singh or Arjun Reddy, their core was Harshavardhan's score' Harshavardhan Rameshwar , the composer of Animal, Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy, has been roped in to do the music, he reveals. 'I need strong background music for the film, as ours is a stylish film. And, if you take Harshavardhan's Animal, Arjun Reddy or Kabir Singh, the core of these movies was the score,' says the director. 'The film will have four female protagonists ' 'We are starting the shoot in mid-September. We will have four female protagonists in the film,' adds Karthik. Por Thozhil cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji is also a part of the film, while Dragon and Love Today fame Pradeep E Ragav is handling the editing. Karthik also informs us that Ruchi Munoth, Rajesh A, and Mahesh Mathew have come on board as the costume designer, art director, and stunt choreographer, respectively. 'Santhanam is my lucky charm and well-wisher' The filmmaker's first two directorial ventures were with Santhanam. Talking about his bond with the actor, Karthik says, 'Santhanam is my lucky charm. He is a darling and my well-wisher. We did two movies back-to-back and now that I'm doing a film with Ravi anna, he called and wished me, saying that I will deliver a big hit. When I make films for him, I cater to his strengths, like his one-liners and casting certain actors like Lollu Sabha Maaran or Seshu, whom the audience wants to see him act with. My film with Ravi anna will also be in a slapstick humour style, but the flavour would be different.'

Today, audiences don't have patience to sit through a film with a long runtime: Arul Ajit

Arul Ajit is making his directorial debut with an investigative thriller, titled Kayilan. The film, which was previously titled Idumbankaari , is led by , who plays an NIA officer, and Ramya Paandiyan, whose role is that of a news channel's editor. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Explaining why the film's title was changed, Ajit says, ' Kayilan means a person with zero errors. We started the film three years ago and the audience's taste changes every year. So, we thought the title had to be catchy and easy to pronounce,' the filmmaker shares. 'MANOBALA SIR COULD PLAY A HUMOROUS ROLE AND ALSO CONVEY A SERIOUS MESSAGE' Apart from the leads, a prominent actor who will be seen in the film is late actor Manobala. 'He dubbed for the film one week before his passing. He knew the pulse of directors because he himself was one and a producer, too. Even though he played a small role, his guidance was of great help to us. His death was a big loss for the industry,' he shares, adding, 'No one can take his place because he could play a humorous role and also convey a serious message through his character. ' 'THE CONCEPT OF SPOON-FEEDING ISN'T THERE IN FILMS ANYMORE' Delving into how different investigative thrillers have become over time, Ajit says, 'I really like modern investigative thrillers like Por Thozhil and Irumbu Thirai . They are fastpaced, unlike erstwhile films of this genre. The concept of spoon-feeding isn't there anymore. Today, audiences are interested in what happens next and don't have the patience to sit through a film with a long runtime. So, the faster the film, the better.' 'A VERY EDGE-OF-THESEAT THRILLER CANNOT CATER TO ALL CENTRES' Ajit says he was clear about the kind of a film he was setting out to make and its target audience. 'The production house said we could do a commercial film that also has a message. But it shouldn't come across as preachy. When we make an edge-of-the-seat thriller, it cannot cater to A, B and C centres. So, our target audience is a certain age bracket,' he reveals.
