Traditional and creative recipes to try on Easter Sunday

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Easter is in three days, which means it's time to start thinking about what to serve for brunch or dinner. PHOTOS: NICU babies at Mass General Brigham celebrate spring season Each family has their traditions on Easter Sunday, such as collecting chocolate bunnies or baking hot cross buns, and many have specific foods that they serve for lunch or dinner. Lamb is one of the more common main courses on Easter because Jesus is often known as the 'lamb of God', according to Age Times. Eating lamb on Easter represents the person we are commemorating and the sacrifice he made. Ham became the practical Easter alternative in the United States because it became more affordable in the 20th century. If you are struggling to figure out what to serve as your main dish, Southern Living has created a list of recipes for traditional Easter foods you can try at home: Apricot Glazed Ham– Start the ham at room temperature and cover it in foil before popping it in the oven. It's the best way to lock in all those delicious juices. Roasted Lamb with herb sauce– The bright, herby sauce is what takes this rich roasted lamb to the next level. Classic Beef Pot Roast– Grace your dinner table with this hearty pot roast. Prime Rib with Horseradish Dipping Sauce– Horseradish is this mouthwatering centerpiece's pungent and spicy secret. Chicken Leg Quarters With Asparagus and Buttermilk Ranch– While a whole roasted chicken might be more traditional, these chicken quarters with asparagus are perfect for smaller, more casual Easter gatherings. Lemon Roast Chicken With Rainbow Carrots – Rainbow carrots are what make this classic roast chicken shine. Smothered Pork Chops – This might not be the most quintessential Easter main dish, but if you aren't in the mood to cook a whole ham, it's the perfect substitute. Cast-Iron Cowboy Steak– This recipe is also a great option for smaller Easter gatherings with just the immediate family. Herb-Crusted Beef Tenderloin– Nailing the perfect rosy pink center on this beef tenderloin is a fun way to show off your cooking skills this Easter. Deep-Dish Ham Pot Pie– A fun twist on a ham main dish. Baked Lemon-Thyme Salmon– A lovely fish main dish, like this salmon, can feel just as springy and celebratory. Slow-Cooker Short Ribs with Pork Rind Gremolata– If you're looking for a heartier main dish for your Easter dinner, look no further. Instant Pot Mississippi Pot Roast Recipe – Whip up this savory pot roast in a slow cooker and serve it alongside mashed potatoes. Skillet Chicken Pot Pie With Puff Pastry – Swap pie crust for flaky, buttery puff pastry in this homestyle classic that's gussied up enough for Easter.
