Hy-Vee closing bars at KC metro stores
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hy-Vee is closing all of the bars at its stores in the Kansas City metro area, the supermarket chain said Wednesday.
Tina Potthoff, a spokesperson for Hy-Vee, told FOX4 there wasn't enough interest or consumer demand.

Bar service will end on May 1.
The chain also announced it will be updating its in-store Hy-Vee Market Grille menu and dining areas.
Hy-Vee said orders for made-to-order breakfast and lunch menu items can now be placed with an employee at the counter pay station from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Every day until 8 p.m., customers can also order food options like pizza and fried chicken, Hy-Chi or Nori Sushi.
Hy-Vee said in a statement that it's trying to make the experience 'consistent across all locations.'
'We're trying to standardize it,' Potthoff told FOX4.
Those menu changes went into effect on Monday, she said.
FOX4 also asked if there will be any layoffs as a result of these closures.
'There's not going to be any, actually,' Potthoff said. 'We're offering them other positions in the stores.'
Hy-Vee said employees who worked as servers were asked to stay at their stores, with most now working in other areas of food service or other departments.
